Topic: Crossfader and music output problems with VMS 4.1 PLEASE HELP

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi I am new to the forum and to the world of DJ'ing and I am excited to be a part of it.

I just recently purchased the American Audio VMS 4.1 with Virtual Dj LE and well I have to admit it has been frustrating.

The problems I am having is this....

First off I am only using two decks and well I can only get and audio output from midlog 3 and with the track playing on deck 1. I don't understand why I cant adjust the volume, Highs, mids, and lows on midlog on midlog 2 where its supposed to be. Then on deck 2, I can play pause, cue and ect, but I have no audio output.

Also in addition the with a song playing on deck 1 ( control of highs, mids, and lows on midilog 3) when I have the crossfader on the right I hear the song and then when I play a song on deck 2 I slide the cross fader on the other side and well no music. So a song is playing on the left deck and to hear the music the cross fader has to be set on the right. I don't understand!

If anyone can help that would be Awesome!!!!

Thank you

PS: I have a Macbok Pro if that helps or changes anything

Hi, have you found any solution to your problem? If not, please let me know.

where is the vdj support?

those who are having issues with your vms 4.1 try reading the manual or the wiki first, it seems alot of people are having a hard time grasping the concept of a midi + along mixer/controller. before you go "turning" knobs, learn what it is and what it does.

there is a switch right on the front of the unit above the crossfader that says "normal/reverse" maybe yours is switched to reverse? also look at the top of the unit, it reas midilog 1, 2, 3, 4 from left to right, you then adjust your CF acordingly, "A" = left side, its on the left of the mixer & "B"= right side, its on the right side of the mixer. set "A" to cf midilog 2, and "B" to midilog 3.

any more basic information can be found in the manual.

*edit i also see you mentioned cant control the eq, you can, but the vms 4.1 is a mixer, so if you have speakers going out of it from master RCA or XLR then you will hear the eq adjustment, its set to fake_eq in VDJ. the settings you need to use is timecode = none, output = external mixer (deck 1 = chan 1 &2 / deck 2 = 3&4, soundcard = vms4*

i hope this helps a few, also you might want to turn AUTO HEADPHONE OFF, this makes the PFL auto switch, this can get confusing when you need to press the the 4 pfl buttons for cueing and others are lit up in the software and you turn it off, but turn it on now in the mixer, something that can also be fixed i assume, but im used to the manual switching and not auto

-cheers
