I just fired up my MacBook Pro and VDJ. As VDJ was loading I got a message that said my "D" Drive was full. I'm not sure what my "D" drive is but I have an internal drive that is definitely not full and an external USB drive that is definitely not full either.
What is this "D" drive that is supposedly full?

I experienced this same problem on my macbook pro also. I run vdj bootcamped in windows 7 64 bit. I use an external usb hard drive that is formatted useing the mac "journaled" type of format. I also get the same message while trying to make any of my folders favorites. I believe this is because my xternal hd is formatted useing a format not completely compatible with windows. Possibly this is true of your situation?? If you are running a mac version of vdj, is your external drive also formatted in a mac format? Just because you can play music and view files from the hd doesnt always mean that you can alter it if it is formatted useing a different file system that what your OS is compliant with. Hope this helps.

If you want to use your external hard drive in cross flat form for PC and MAC can be read, write and delete files on it you should format your external hard drives either of the following format: MS-DOS, FAT32, EX-FAT this is natively supported by PC & MAC OSX.

I am running Lion and the VDJ Pro for Mac.
My external uSB HD is formatted as Mac OS Extended (journaled).
I've been using this setup for about a year and have never seen that error before. I routinely save playlists, delete playlists etc.
Are you saying the drive should be formatted in some different way? I mean, internal HD's on Mac are formatted that way. VDJ can't expect people to reformat their drives do accommodate VDJ can they?

If you wish to use the drive on both Windows and Mac then you will need to format it so that both operating systems can read and write to it (Fat32) - Please see: http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Use%20external%20drive%20on%20Windows%20and%20Mac.html
If you are using it on Macs only then you don't need to reformat it. It's possible that the drive is corrupted or maybe you previously switched from PC to Mac.
You can check and fix the database in VirtualDJ: http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/I%20get%20an%20error%20message%20saying%20that%20my%20database%20is%20corrupted.html
