Topic: music "skipping/choppy" when loading on another deck while one deck is playing

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

computer specs:

asus UL50A
Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor SU7300 : 1.3 GHz
500GB,5400rpm 3 gig ram

as stated in the topic. when loading a song into a deck while another deck is playing it causes the deck that is playing to skip or get choppy. the new file loads really slow until the file is completely loaded the chopping doesnt stop. this isnt very professional and is very annoying. is there a fix for this with out buying a new laptop? i also have the hercules dj 4 set controller with virtual dj 7 se

thanks

Hi there !

To me it sounds that you´ve got some problems with your harddrive. Does this occur if you load tracks from ex ext usb mem ?

If yes,then cpu performance issue,if no=hdd problem

Best regards

Aron

YES WHEN LOADING FOR AN EXT HARD DRAIVE IT DOES THE SAME "CHOPPING"

I DECIDED TO BREAK DOWN AND GET A NEW LAPTOP:

ASUS K53E
Intel® Core™ i5 2450M/2430M/2410M Processor

ACCORDING TO ASUS WEBSITE (AND THE SALEMAN AT BEST BUY) THE PROCESSOR IS 2.6 GHz WHICH IF I WAS UNDERSTANDING CORRECTLY THIS WOULD BE FAST ENOUGH FOR MY SITUATION. EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT BUT AFTER ABOUT 30 MINS OF MUSIC PLAYING THE CHOPPING STARTED AGAIN.

NOW DOES ANYBODY HAVE A NEW SUGGESTION BEFORE I LOOSE MY MIND......

Please check the above page ( http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Performance%20Issues.html )

Just because your computer specification is OK, it doesn't mean it will run the software well. Most laptops are built with typical home/office users in mind and are not optimised for applications such as VirtualDJ (Which a typical home/office wouldn't be using.) Most new laptops are usually loaded with bloatware and optimised for extended battery life rather than system performance.

If the problem only occurs with an external drive, then it could be a fault with that drive.

Also, please don't type in ALL CAPS. This makes your message harder to read and is interpreted as 'shouting' and bad etiquette by most Internet users. Please use proper case for your messages. See the forum rules.

i have a dual core 2.2ghz i think and i still occasionally get lag... even with 4gb ram.. it all depends on how much you pot pressure on the system, try tweaking your entire system to cope better with vdj.. turn off graphic effects that you dont need and trn off wireless etc whn using vdj. theres numerous threads on tweaking your laptop for dj use on the forums. im positive if mu 1.6 single core 2gb ram netbook can run vdj with ease, then your laptop, tweaked correctly can run it too.

i just disable for the gig the wifi and dvd drive and the freezes and choppines stops. plus it loads faster.

Should be fast enough. Try loading songs from the local drive, see if it does the same thing. Also try a different USB cable.

well, everything Teamer told you is correct....

the first comp was below spec ....

the second isn't but April Fools! it still needs optimization .....

we will help you , but at this point you need to take responsibility for your own success

you should have already read the link .... the wiki has lots of commonly required tweaks

store bought computers are only optimised for the onboard bloatware and to extend the battery performance

like Teamer said.....so.... you can either keep buying laptops ad infinitum and hope to get lucky , or you could

just read the wiki link and perform some easy tweaks .......

another tool that will help with your PC optimization, Gamebooster from Iobit, google it.. it will disable all uneeded background apps including virus scanner although u may need to disable some parts of the virus scanner manually like the realtime shields... gamebooster will also let u select uneeded services and programs at startup also.. be sure to disable the wifi and bluetooth, if u have bluetooth. seriously take a look at this great free apppp....

one more thing, set your visual theme to basic.. will help u alot!!! Just like everyone was saying above and in other posts like this

GameBooster helps , it can never hurt , but you still need to do some things manually

one thing to remember about GB it will invoke it's own power profile in power options

which i don't like

Hey,

I never knew it invokes it's own power profile... I never really had any trouble with it. There's alot i had to disable manually as you said, when u set it up the first time, it works with the same options all the time unless of you install something new and it has a service or startup app with it. Thanks for letting me know that one CHuckNorrisy. I will look into it...

my pc run's on Intel Pentium 4CPU 1.70GHz Processor 1.2GB RAM Intel 82845G Graphics Controller
it's runing smoothly but 2 out of 10 it give's me a problem

I have a windows experience of 7.1Alienware 17 R3 and song started skipping a beat on almost every song without my controller attached! ddj-sx

did you press play straight away as the song was loading??

mind you this is a 3.5 yr old post

when ever i have this problem its 99% always the hard drive

Thank you for your input, but this thread is very old. Ladies and gentlemen, please don't open old threads, thank you.
