Is there a way to change the "default" desk, other than just being the last deck loaded?
Ideally, there should be a way to make a keyboard shortcut to swap desks (and explicitly set the default to 1 or 2 would be nice also) plus a variable you can use as an indicator on your skin to show which deck is the default.

Or..... the "Active" Desk.......
Perhaps if someone enlightened me as to the actual inner workings of "active" and "default" desk, it may be all I need.
As far as I can tell, the default desk is the last one loaded, and the active deck is the previous deck loaded.
Is this correct, or am I missing something here?

do you mean Deck or Desk?
Deck=player (there are 2 decks in VDJ 1 and 2)

Wireless, they are referred to as desk in the VIrtualDJ manual [:o)
