Topic: Virtual DJ BAR NONE!!!

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Here's the deal, I used Serato at this popular Lounge in NYC last Wednesday and on Saturday I used Virtual DJ at a surprise birthday party. Virtual DJ is 10 times better, so I'm having my lawyer draw up in my contract, that if you want me to DJ your event of any kind, your party, club or whatever, I only use Virtual DJ or no deal! Many will say I'll lose business, but I laugh at the notion, especially when I'm in such high demand, because I paid my dues over the years. So for me the debate is over of which is the better software!

Keep in mind, I am not bashing Serato, but it doesn't compare to Virtual DJ! I've used them both in the format of consoles and on turntables through timecodes and VDJ is the outright winner!

Loops, cues, sound, effects and even the latency is much better on the scratch since VDJ7 came out! Which proves to me again, that reputation means nothing to me until I see you in action!

If you're on the fence of which way to go? Take it from a pro who has been in the game since Ronald Regan was the President of the United States, VIRTUAL DJ IS THE BEST BAR NONE!

cuz The Mix Monster says so!!!

You know it TD, lol!

? why would somebody looking to hire a DJ, really care what kind of DJ software we use ? ive been doing this since 1983 and (Never) has somebody asked me what dj software im using ? the care about the music & performance. just my 2 cents :)

Dude, I been asking that question since this BS with the software wars started. Most clubs & lounges I deal with here in NYC, have serato setups, so I'm flipping the script on them and making sure they know, you want me to do my job, allow me to use what I feel comfortable with using, because I'm the one packing your spots, keeping your dance floor popping and people at the bar. So it's officially in my contract, VDJ or no DJ Coach K, BOTTOM LINE!

But to basically answer your question, Ignorance on the parts of many.

I have never EVER heard any club tell a dj what equipment to use.

I know alot of Clubs in NYC have serato setups but i never seen a DJ denied for using a Different software. The reason why they have serato setups is because the majority of the Djs in NY are using it. It easy for the Dj to setup fast and avoid delays. The club setups are mostly timecode on a CDJ or Technics 1200. There are some, Very few djs Like DJ rated R That would use a HC4500. I seen a Old School Dj " Baby J " at Club Laboom in queens Use virtual Dj and also DJ Kazanova use traktor with a Kontrol S4.

Caliente, you know we deal with some cool club owners in NYC and we deal with some real butt wipe Owners too. Now most places don't ask, but you have a few who does try to pull that stunt. So all I'm doing is making sure I'm not met with that BS ever again.

I hear what your saying. One day well meet up. Im always spinning in astoria queens.

No doubt fam, I do a lot of the lounges on the lower east side like, UC, Panda & Sapphire, during the weekdays. I'll shoot out your way sometime.

I bring my laptop and controller in a flight case just plug in the mains and I set to go. Don't see why I couldn't do that in any club I'd play

I love VDJ, I recently purchased Serato with the Video SL Plugin. I also personally think VDJ is better, but I wouldnt place that term in a contract based on potentially loosing business. I would just use whatever software I chose to get the job done.

It's just business man, I feel what you're saying, understand I just ran into a couple of clowns over the past couple of year that just didn't get it and basically tried to force my hand into using serato, because it's apart of their setup and since they buy into "Serato is standard BS" I've decided I'm calling my shots for now on, because I'm not some new up and comer. I have vinyl older than most of these new hotshot managers & promoters in NYC. I never had this issue with any of my mobile gigs, just few tools in the bunch thats all.

I'm not hating on Serato at all as I stated from the get go, I just feel VDJ is way better and that's what I choose to get the job done.

You can get away with that in a NYC lounge, but a major majority of NY clubs frown on controllers right now. Some are still stuck in the "it's turntables/ cdjs or nothing else."
