Hello Virtual DJ forums!
I've been trying to get into this whole dj / producing thing the last year or so and thus far been having a blast. My issue right now is, i feel that its time for me to get off the mixtrack and start collecting some real gear.
I'm pretty undecided on the stuff i will get, but from what i've read, i think i'm going to try to stick with denon because the quality looks pretty good and the prices are low. Now, because i don't have a huge surplus of money, i am probably going to stick with some used equipment first from ebay or craigslist, that's why i said i'm undecided, i know what i'd like, but i need to fit the budget, so i'm just going to go for the first thing i find for a reasonable price and in good condition.
From reading these forums i've found every cdj and mixer is a little bit different to setup in vdj, i understand this, but i have some basic questions i believe you guys can help me with...
First off lets say i have 2 denon cdjs and a denon / numark mixer (the idea setup). What are the steps to get it hooked to vdj? I know they need to have a midi mode, and need to have USB, but do i need to have both tables and the mixer plugged in usb? Or do i just need to plug the cdjs into the mixer then just plug the mixer in via usb? I'm new into this whole audio thing so i'm not sure how it all works. I figured in theory only the mixer had to be plugged into the computer, but after reading some posts i'm not sure anymore.
Next i have a Numark djio currently, will this be good enough or will i need a new soundcard? I figured everything would be running to the mixer so wouldn't matter how many channels the soundcard has right? Because the headphones and both decks would be plugged into the mixer, that would mean just the audio out would plug into the soundcard and then the audio out on the soundcard would go into the speakers right?
Third, If i need to have all 3 plugged in, i would be low on USBage, what would be a recommended usb hub to be reliable to run everything?
Thanks for the help, feel free to call me a dumbass if i have it all wrong!
