Topic: Numark Mixdeck Express, Regular or Quad - Lets Figure This Out!

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hello Everyone,

I am looking for a backup system to always have in the truck or use during cocktail/ceremony for an event. I have read what many of you have wrote about the mixdecks and overall I think I am looking to buy it. The question is which one? I really am looking for a simple backup system, something to play CD's and something that can be mappable to virtual dj. In the mapping department I am only looking for play, pause, cue, sync and if possible sync_reset! I understand the express does not have a mappable mixer.

Should I just go with the express? Can I map out "reverse" and "brake" to be my sync and sync_reset?

Most important question of all... ARE THESE RELIABLE!!! Has anyone had any freezes during an event?

I am leaning on the express as I do not see anything that I need on the others unless there is a quality issue I should be aware of. Anybody have express? Compare to Regular? Compare to quad?

Thank you for your input and advice,

Anthony

if your looking for a backup and you don't care about not having a mappable mixer section then just go with an express or a regular.
If I were buying one I would go with a quad but only because the mixer is mappable and I need to map the mixers crossfader to the video crossfader.
Yes you can map the deck buttons however you like.

I can't speak about reliability since I only owned my mixdeck for about a month and I never had any issues during that short period. I sold it because I really wanted a mappable mixer section.

Happy shopping!

Thank you for the reply. I am thinking about doing video one day. What you are planning on doing is mapping the cross fader to change the video image? Sound already goes, but you map the fader to change the image?

Sorry if I sound silly.

The express and the regular one are different only mainly with the iPod? If I can go smaller and do the same job I really think the express can do it.

I've had my Mixdeck (with the ipod dock) for almost a year and I haven't had any problems with it. I love and don't think ill ever get rid of it, well atleast until the Mixdeck Quad comes out, lol!! The ipod dock rules!! I can record the audio from every set I play if i want. As far as spinning videos goes I've just mapped out a spare knob as the video crossfader. I also have it mapped out to control 4 decks aswell. I usually just use decks 3/4 for drum loops. I haven't used the Express but I see its missing hot cues and a loop selector, plus I don't think it has a parameter knob for the effects.

Hope that helps, Happy Hunting
Huey
