Topic: Looking For An Effect

Hey, I was wondering if there was any type of effect that makes the song "build up" like a drop in dubstep music. If not is there a good way on doing this? Thanks.

I have the plugins, now how do I map it? Im not very used to doing it how you explained. So i do it in config on the vdj program or what? Thanks. I have a unused slider and knob on each side, i'd like to do the build as easy as possible. Like turning a knob to let the beat build would be awesome.

I've downloaded loop&roll and started to play around with that. But its not exactly what im looking for as in related to the video above. I heard your smx1 is beter than the effects on here that do this but when i download them my computer doesnt take the .exe file and I didnt see a source files download. Which is odd because i downloaded many effects on here but with the smx1 it does not let me use it. And yes i've tried beatmasher single.

The effect that ian golden is demonstrating is the same as looproll, but I suggest you use Duen - Duen's fantastic new "roll" effect as it is the only one with 3/4 loop size, which gives the roll a broken loop that sounds awesome and will become essential. the fifth button will disable roll and brake the track while you hold it, then continue playing the track when you let go.

button 1 - 1 beat
effect 'roll' active while_pressed & effect 'roll' button 4 & effect 'roll' slider 1 100%

button 2 - 3/4 beat
effect 'roll' active while_pressed & effect 'roll' button 3 & effect 'roll' slider 1 100%

button 3 - 1/2 beat

the post timed out, this map is way better and keeping with the 4 buttons, but with more functions... I have now made it so if you hit both button 1 and 2 at the same time it will do a 3/4 loop.

-if you press the first three buttons it will activate loop out, which you can still mangle with the buttons.
-if you press the second and the forth buttons it will engage backspin while it is pressed, if you stop the track with backspin it will go back to where you started the effect from and play

I couldn't think of any more effects to include so if you have any ideas try them out, if they work together let me know and I can include them, and hopefully duen duen will include a reverse in his roll in the future which would be sick for button 1 and 4..

this is better again, it is a change to the first two buttons so you can actually use 1, 3/4, 1/2 loop sizes easily with the two buttons and I have used beatmasher single so if you press button 1 then 4 it will reverse the loop now as well as the other stuff :)

I think that is about as far as I can push it, enjoy playing with it and please use it sparingly in a club, if you use it too much you will go blind, and not in the way if you jack off too much... you will go blind because annoyed punters will throw bottles at your head for ruining the songs.. LOL

friggen time out... that is the last bug... now it wont turn off the roll like it did before if pressing button 3 but releasing button 1 or 2

Ha ha this is getting out of hand now... If a mod see's this can you please delete my previous posts

Its a little confusing but thanks man your a lifesaver, ill try it out and post back on here. Why type of buttons should this be used on? I have a Hercules RMX Mixer and a midi keyboard. I have a few knobs and sliders available but if those wont work i can just put them on keys on my keyboard.

I just tried it, it sort of works on a keyboard, just the backspin cue will not work.. I also changed first two buttons a little more so they operate a little cleaner LOL.. i'd say it would be better on the rmx though, you could have it on a shift, just make a shift button with

toggle 'masher'

then you can add a query to the script, so it will only work if the 'masher' shift is active. that is just
var 'masher' 1 ? button script : normal action

eg for button 1

There is 2 FX on the video : roll + zip (downroll of Pioneer's DJM700)

You can have something very similar by using Roll FX + Key of VDJ

unfortinately I was unable to get a repeating stepping script in there because there is a glitch in it, I was going to use the inbuilt filter for an effect fill on the 3rd button instead of loopout, but couldn't make it work so it would be just as hard for the key knob to do the same thing, its a good thought though, I was actully going to try your pitch echo on it, but again I couldnt make it function properly.

I have another effect request as well... It would be great to have brake and backspin effects that act like roll's and dont stop the track for good fills... with this mapping it utilises those effects, but they can send the tracks out of time if they are held for too long
