Topic: ***New MC3000 from Denon DJ*** - Page: 2

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

This 3000 unit was probably a prototype, they probably just thought they'd put it out there as an additional option.

There seems to be a lot of emphasis on budget controllers by all the major manufactures, with so many out there and very few pro controllers I find it strange.

Also why are they missing the basics? e.g. mic and mic eq's.

I hate it when manufactures have one or the other as a mic input, I remember turning up with an xlr lead once and the mixer was a jack only so I was sent home, 2.5 hr round trip for nothing! obviously from then on after I carried both.

Why didn't they use a combo XLR?

So many question but few answers if any.

The mixer is the heart and sole of a system, I have everything else to my standard but am just been patiant as far as mixer goes.

I think manufacturers could do with some working DJs on their team as 'product consultants' to avoid this type of ridiculous
error in design/features.

I can understand how a non-DJ R&D guy can come up with the initial concept, but how on
earth does it get all the way through to the stores without anyone flagging up these things?!

I have no idea.

Thing is you don't see them asking us for advice do you, Strange.

Thing is, the MC-6000 is almost perfect in every way (apart from some people wanting timecode support) and the price is competitive compared to S4, NS6 etc.

Why the MC-3000 lacks so many features is anyone's guess but probably to keep the price down. Strange thing is that other similar controllers in that price bracket do far more!

After reading around and watching a few videos I'm gonna say this is the 3700's big brother.....

It even has the new logo on it, looks like its running off an iPad, more cue buttons, some more up by the screen. Watch the video closely.......

Oh DenonDJ where are you???

Keith the MC3000 holds it own when compared to a S2, Ergo, V2.

groovindj, thanks for your opinion.
We always work with DJs for all aspects of design.

The MC3000 was designed more for the novice/starter DJ who does not require all the riches found in the MC6000, but still wants a Pro level, reliable alternative that works like a glove with VDJ or Traktor.

At half the price of an MC6000 would have been understandable. But at almost the same price (you can get a used MC6000 for $600) i really dont see the point of this.

Hi MeowMix.
Its not half the price of a MC6000
MC6000 = $799
MC3000 = $599

Thanks

Pro level, as long as that pro doesn't need to use a mic!

My view is that the cheaper product is the one more likely to appeal to mobile DJs, so it needs a decent mic channel MORE than the MC6000.

I guess the DJs who work with/for Denon are the strong, silent types...

:-)

No, not at all. it's for beginners.

Well yeah, Denon say that it was "designed for the novice..." but what kind of novice is prepared to drop £500 on a controller?!

What I'm saying is - because the 3000 is cheaper and smaller than the 6000, those DJs who thought the 6000 was too expensive
may have been tempted by the 3000, but as the mic channel is so basic, it rules it out.

Hi beatbreaker1.
Is this in reference to the SC3900?
If so, I see there's a new thread for that.

The same person who would be interested in the, Pioneer Ergo and N.I. S2, they are both $599 in the US.
The MC3000 offers more for the same price.

No mic EQ is a serious omission to be honest.

For another $200 you can have the amazing all singing all dancing MC-6000 so why bother with this one?

If it had been $400 or maybe even $500 then there may have been a reason for it.

Thanks Keith, check out the S2 and Ergo....no mic eq.
Naturally a MC6K owner will be a harsh judge to the MC3K.

I guess so Silvio, but the 6k wants for nothing, it's all in there. I guess some features had to be omitted and that was one of them!

Maybe the days of DJ's using the mic as a main feature are fading away!
