Topic: 2 x Technics sl 1200 mk2 AND Hercules dj console mk2 (HELP)

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hello everyone
i have 2 technics mk2 turntables and lets say that i want to connect them with dvs system (timecodes) with virtual dj pro.
my questions is:

have anyone used the hercules mk2 build in soundcard for live use?
(i mean for pa speakers for mobile djs , NOT in home use with pc speakers.)
is the sound 'affordable'?
i dont want a great sounds , i just want to be ok ,
i know that the build in soundcard of hercules mk2 is not the best , but if i use it in a line channel on a second mixer (like for example a pioneer) and then the master out to the speaker will the sound be better?

I say again , i just want the sound to be ok. nothing more.

thanks for your time

Yes. I have exactly the same setup with external mixer, and the sound seems very good to me.
The Herc Mk2 card is so good as other soundcards which i tested with timecodes, as ESI Maya44 and U46DJ.
But I dont know how rigorous you are about sound quality matters, so I think u should do a test before the gig.

Thanks a lot my friend
I dont know why, i have changed so many times my setup, pioneer cdjs , midi controllers etc etc
but im tending to my first equipment which was this hercules dj console mk2.
i really love this controller
i have a friend that has this stuff,
so.. its testing time
greets from Greece

One last question
With the above setup will i have a timecode setup?
I mean virtual dj - hercules dj console mk2 - 2 technics mk2 - timecode vinyls
(i wont need an external soundcard such as maya44 usb cause i have the build in of the hercules , right/?)
Also , i wont need a second midi cause i have the basic like eqs loops and volumes from the hercules ,
i just need to test it
my question is , what timecode vinyls will i have to use?Someone told me that everythings working with virtual dj , like serato , traktor etc.
What timecode vinyls would you suggest me?

will this setup with the hercules mk2 with timecodes vinyls will be ok with latency?
please answer me cause im gonna buy this controller and im not sure if it will be ok for me (timecodes vinyls).

And something last,
how to setup the timecodes with virtual dj and hercules mk2?
If you can, explain me please.

It's really important for me.

Thanks a lot.

(EDIT)
my main question is that:
will i have a dvs system with the buildin sound card of the hercules mk2???
or this is sound card for midi use only?
you have tested it with turntables and hercules mk2 and it worked ?
(my setup will be like - laptop>virtual dj pro>timecode vinyls>hercules mk2
and in the inputs ill connect the 2 tt's in the phono).
will THIS work????

The setup with Turntables, VirtualDJ Pro, timecoded vinyls and Herdcules MK2 is enough to a timecode system. The controller also woirks as an analog mixer, if u want to mix real vinyls.

VirtualDJ is compatible with several timecode signals, but Atomix Productions recommends Serato vinyls, as you can see at the hardware list.

The Herc MK2 card is ASIO compliant, so you have to forget ASIO4ALL. All you have to do is install the most recent hercules drivers properly. MIDI and ASIO drivers do different things, dont get confused. You will be able to control VirtualDJ by MIDI and listen to the sound from card by ASIO.

You can set the ASIO buffer size - also known as latency - to 96 (2ms) wich is fast enough to process timecodes. If your system is powerfull enough - as you can see at recomended system requirements - your timecode system will do a great job.

About connections and configs, all you have to do is
- connect your turntables to the mk2 inputs,
- set the rear switches to phono,
- use the Hercules control panel to set the controller inputs to rear line inputs and work with ASIO drivers,
- change the virtualdj sound setup inputs to timecodes
- follow the steps shown at Jeremk timecode setup tutorial.

You say that have VirtualDJ Pro but is a NLU. You must bear in mind that an illegal VirtualDJ copy will not perform as you expect from an original software. Remember this advice if you have troubles.

Thats all I have to say. Good Luck.

First of all, THANK YOU for your help
it means a lot for me.

about virtual dj pro, i haven't purchased it yet , cause i'd like to give it a try with the free version (i think timecodes systems works about 10 minutes) and if my setup will be ok , then ill upgrade to virtual dj pro version.

I have a last question if you can explain me.

Could this work as an 'analog' mixer?
What i want is that , i'd like to use the above setup for timecode use (dvs) but i have some disco vinyls too and i'd like to use them too,
If i connect my technics turntables in the 2 phono inputs of the hercules mk2 and then from the master out to my speakers , will i have sound with it?
i mean, hercules mk2 is ONLY for timecodes system for vinyl use , OR could i use it as a mixer to play my disco vinyls too?
I hope you can get what i mean, cause im not good enough at english language.

Thanks again for your time
i really appreciate it.

I heard from someone with hercules rmx , that this midi controller (which i think is similar as hercules mk2) can work also like an 'analog' mixer , with virtualdj .

Is something like that possible?

(EDIT)
i read again your post and youve already answered my question
would you mind explaining to me how to do it?
(is it from the config of virtual dj , audio setup ?)

Hello again
Something else

anyone knows if virtual dj is compatitable with the timecode vinyls of the mixvibes pack which comes with the sound card u mix 44?
i mean without the mixvibes soundcard.
Just hercules mk2 , and the timecode vinyls of Mixvibes.

Thank you.
