G'day all
I have my eye on adding a Korg Kaoss pad to my set up. Are they compatible with the Hercules RMX and VDJ???
I should add that it is the KP2 or KP3 that are interesting me.
Thanks in advance for any assitance that anyone can give.

the problem with using external hardware effects is that they need an analog mixer with an effect send to work on individual channels, otherwise you will only be able to effect the master output. I have a kp2 which is fun to play with but honestly I consider a toy as the sound quality is poor, there is no way to adjust the parameters with any precision and it has a very "cheap" feeling construction, that being so it was quickly replaced with a pioneer efx 1000.
If you have your heart set on a kaoss pad i'd go for the kp3 as you could also use this in vdj as a midi controller i think. but then again if you can live without the lights you could just use a korg nano for controlling vdj's effects or maybe an icon icreativ which has a touchpad with leds for visual feedback under the pad... well if it ever gets released.
But honestly I prefer to use real buttons, knobs and sliders to control any parameter as they are much more precise, than their touch counterpart.

Thanks for your response Synthet1c, it's greatly appreciated.
The need for my addition would be to add effects to the master tracks and also hold pre-programed loops and samples that would be able to be utilised through another channel, if this is possible.
I have trawled through many youtube videos of effects units and samplers and read loads of online reviews, but the best advice can only be given by the people that actually use the equipment. I'm not fimiliar with the image that you have posted but I'm off to do some research....
Thanks again

to do what you want with a kaoss pad you would need to have a sound card with a minimum of a stereo out and stereo in, you could run the kaoss off the main channel, (meaning you will only be able to effect both channels at once). then you could feed the output of the kaoss back into a deck set as line in, there may be a problem with having feedback when the signal goes back through the master, but hey there is only one way to find out... LOL
the icreativ is not an effect unit like the kaoss pad, it is just a midi controller, so could only control the effects run through vdj, be they stock or vst, but there is a good video of it's possabilities on youtube, it has xy control, virtual drum pads, independant volume control for multiple channels and a piano keyboard all on the touch pad.

I think my first step will be to check out the extra benefits provided by downloading the VDJhome version which will let me change the effects on the RMX, as with the LE version they are extremley basic. I did activate the Pro trail version and wasn't blown away with it, but saying that I only used it twice. I'm bidding on a KP3 on ebay and should win it so i'll let you know how I get on with that.
Thanks for all of your help, you've been most helpful.
