I got bored of the other skin as it was beginning to look a bit crap and I was probably reaching too high for my first skin, but I started an icon idj skin.
I was wondering, when your drawing bright (on) buttons do you need to draw them all again in the various colors inline with the (off) buttons, or can you just re use the same button image for the different buttons in the xml. For example this skin will have the dull gray for (off) and the blue and red, I will have panels in the middle so I know I have to repeat the eight buttons, but for the side buttons can I just reuse one button for them all?
this is what the unit looks like
Cheers

You can use 1 image for all the buttons. 1 Gray, 1 Blue and 1 Red.

+1 Reason why you do not have letters in each button, your you can use the same coordinates in down, selected and over

It is recommended to have the first screen with buttons in off mode (up). You may have all the other graphics for buttons (selected, down, over) anywhere in your bmp file but below that first screen.
