Topic: How to get DJ gigs in a nightclub in Las Vegas.

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi I am kinda new to the club scene here in Las Vegas. I am specifically a latin DJ. I see that this area is full of Latin DJ's everywhere and is a lot of competition. I asking if anybody can give me any advice on how to secure gig's at a lounge or a nightclub here? I don't know where to start looking or where to begin. The only reason I don't ask the other DJ's themselves in the venue's is because I been blown off before by many and a lot of DJ's just are not interested in talking to me or giving me any advice unfortanetly.

If anybody can help with some good advice on where I can get started I greatly appreciate it.

Go to the club and listen to their DJ, watch and see the reactions. Does the crown like his style, music, etc? Record a 10 minute demo and take to the club owner/manager along with a business card. Talk to them if you can about their club, music, etc.

Like any other business what is the differentiator between you and any other DJ's? This is what you need to find in yourself and show off to people.

You go over to DJs in one of the most competitive club scenes in the world, bug them in the middle of performance and ask them tips how to steal their job and you're genuinely surprised they don't react well? :D

What part of Vegas do you live in it all depends I live on the southside and theirs a lot of places over here to try to get in.

@ PS KEENS - Thanks for your advice I been actually trying to make new mixes and hopefully get them to some club promoters before!

@ Aural candy.net - I am NOT looking to steal anybody's job bro. I like to do DJing for fun! I am NOT an cocky person with a rock star atttitude or with a ego. I am just trying to do something fun that I like in front of a good crowd. I am less concerned about things like getting rich (if that were the case I give up djing all together) or getting p*ssy like other dj's. Also I do not interrupt dj's while they are playing. i'll talk to them if they are on a break.

@ Island Sjoa - I live in North Las Vegas. What places can you tell me on your side of town? I don't mind driving all that way at all.

@ PsKeens.. Making a demo and giving it out is what i always do but 10 minutes is way too short. I always make a full cd because i want the listener to hear my style.

@Caliente 123: How many minutes do you put in a Full CD? I usually make 15 minutes demo cd's but sometimes people tells me they are very long!

Full CD is 80 min. But no one is forced to listen to it to the end.

Ohhh i feel so dumb lol. Thank you!
