Forum: VirtualDJ Skins

Topic: can a skinmaster draw this skin, I can map it, ...

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I just cant draw, imho it would be unstoppable, with every feature vdj has built in

features I would include

- extra decks sampler

in a collapsible panel, this would make it possible to beatlock, keylock,, sync, have a toggle for play_pause/stutter play for each individual sample, toggle loop or oneshot for each sample, have video clip samples with video override, pfl, auto gain to match the decks, view a waveform of the sample, drag and drop to load, effect a sample, have 16 banks of samples so it is inline with most professional midi pads.

- easy access hard coded effects

in a collapsible panel, have access to 5 hard coded effects eg, reverb, echo, noisebell, bitcrusher, flanger, etc... for each deck, with the most important parameters mapped as 1 an 2 aren't always the best, all effects off button,

- loop section

quick loops, smart loop, backward loop toggle on/off, loop in, out, reloop

- scratch panel

spinners, filter effect crossfader switches (dual hi, dual low, hi out, low out), standard effect selector (param 1 & 2) for non hard coded effects, hi/low qb filter, but probably like to have two more filter knobs for just low and high individually

- video panel

standard video panel features, video fx, transition, link, auto crossfader

- cues

4 hot cues, 2 hot loops same cue # but selectable size 4 or 8 beats, right click delete

- 4 decks

have the decks on panels and auto assign the crossfader depending on which deck panel is showing

here's a sketch

Ok I'm feeling you on this but my skinning skills are still some what limited, lmao! When it come to panels I suck! Not saying I won't give it a try but ill have some time this weekend to draw something up.

Great idea, and if anybody else can do it feel free to join in!!

P.S. How do you loop in reverse?? VDJ doesn't do that........yet ;-)

goto -4 & loop 4

but I made a script to go backwards the selected loop size and loop

loop_select 1 ? goto -1 & loop 1 : loop_select 2 ? goto -2 & loop 2 : loop_select 4 ? goto -4 & loop 4 : loop_select 8 ? goto -8 & loop 8 : loop_select 16 ? goto -16 & loop 16

but it doesn't loop in reverse like you wanted ages ago, it just jumps backward then loops based on the selected loop size... I always think damn that would have been a good loop but I miss it, this fixes that. If your still after a reversed loop, maybe try inverting the phase, there is a script for it somewhere but I can't find it :)

Yes you can.
Example. 2 panels called A1 & A2 nested in panel A ...

<panel id"A" group="Y" .......>
..
..
</panel>

<panel panel="A" id="A1" group="X" ....
..
..

</panel>

<panel panel="A" id="A2" group="X" ....
..
..

</panel>

This is an art, and also it spends time.
Good work friend, and we waited for the new news of the skin
