i have just purchased a pair of ndx800's , vdj pro and an external mixer.
i have connected my output LR from NDX800 to mixer and the ubs from ndx800 to macbook.
i am perfectly using the vdj function from ndx800 in midi mode. but only gettin sound from laptop speakers. i was told to purchase dj io from numark as i would get sound from external mixer and allow external cross fading.
But would this set up allow me to play cds from the ndx800 using this or would i have to put the cd mode ( ie outputs from ndx800 into a different channel?
or would a completely different sound card. ie one that allows line in too? as the dj io only allows line out?

The DJIO will allow external mixer setup in VirtualDJ so that the sound from the left/right decks are output to two separate channels on your mixer.
Please see http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/DJIO.html for details on how to set it up.
However, it does not have inputs and cannot route CD audio from the NDX-800's into VirtualDJ.
If you are using an external DJ mixer, you do not need to do this anyway, and if you do, you would not be able to use the CD/USB players in an emergency should you have a problem with your computer.
Plug the CD outputs of NDX-800's into spare channels/inputs on your external DJ mixer. Most mixers should have enough inputs. Two channel mixers will usually have a switch for each channel that allows you to switch between different sources (I.e: DJIO output from VirtualDJ or NDX-800 CD output.)
