Topic: Using VDJ with an EXTERNAL MIXER?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi, SO recently i bought a pair of Citronic Mpcdx3's....they are kickass, and work perfectly with my mixer.
Recently i bought a mac, and ive seen people using VDJ on their macs, with CDJ's controlling them.... I found out how, and eventually managed to use my citronics as midi controllers.

NOW HERES THE QUESTION

How do i use my external mixer, to replace the mixer inside vdj? So that i can use the eq'ing, crossfaders, etc on my external mixer to control the sound.....or is this even possible?

Any help at all would be much appreciated, many thanks!

You need to output the sound into your mixer with the use of a soundcard, as your using the decks as controllers I would recommend a Native Instruments Audio 2, But you will need VDJ Pro so you can use a controller.

You will need to purchase a DJ sound card with at least two stereo outputs such as Numark DJIO, Native Instruments Audio 2 DJ, etc. and the full VirtualDJ Professional: http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html

This setup will allow you to choose CONFIG -> Sound Setup -> Outputs: External Mixer so that you can output the left and right decks in VirtualDJ to two channels of your external mixer.
