Topic: Numark DJ2GO....couldn't resist, so ordered one :) - Page: 2

This part of topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information

nope I just like mapping... whats the problem?

This is what I was trying to do

Damn Impact typeface you can't really see what it says when it's compressed so

Normal - shifted
jog - effect slider
play pause - hot cue 1
Cue - hot cue 2
sync - loop 4
(pfl) shift
pitch bend (-) - loop half
pitch bend (+) - loop double
volume - sampler volume
(load A) browser folder - hold load A - nothing
(load B) browser songs - hold load B - nothing
(back) deck 1 effect on - sampler play stop
(enter) deck 2 effect on - sampler play stop
browse - effect select
(headphone vol) headphone crossfader - headphone volume

Reading your mapper description you make a differentiation between, for example, the left and right PFL buttons (DECK1_PFL and DECK2_PFL), yet in the key list, it only gives PFL as an option.

With this in mind, I can't apply your mapping.

Thoughts?

I want one.... :)

Can anyone of the controller Teamers let us know if the controls on the DJ2GO are assignable by deck, if so, can you send me the default device file, so that I can create a new device file that allows mapping of the left and right sides independently.

Simon

I don't like global shifts, I never use them when mapping because they restrict your control, you could make it a global shift and deal with it or make a definition file that includes 2 seperate pfl buttons, but just try key learn one more time, if you have two of everything else, surely you would have two pfl's available for mapping as there is two of them.

You can differentiate between the left and right deck on a dual-deck controller using device_side, e.g:

device_side 'left' ? action for button on left deck : action for button on right deck

Nah...just tried LEARN and both PFL buttons bring up the default "PFL" key...

From this I guess that in the device file they have not been defined independently.

I am really liking this little thing...sat here with my laptop, a DJ2GO, a pair of PHX USB headphones and an ION Block Rocker...and not a power cord in sight!...could it get more portable...lol

Oh...and Numark...a slip cover for the DJ2GO would be nice ;)

Yep device_side 'side' works a treat.....

So making use of the headphone volume as a headphone crossfader, you can create quite a complex mapping from a tiny controller by using the PFL buttons as shift buttons :) :) :)

It's ages since I've had as much fun as with this little controller...My S4 is brilliant...but it's all done for you...

yep thats why mapping is fun, but there is still heaps more you could do if you wanted to...

if your using sync for beatmatching, you have two spare pitch faders, you don't need the pitch bend buttons so there is another 4 free buttons, you could also make the pitch bend buttons only half and double the loops while looping, there you have another 4 (shifted) buttons , the master isn't shifted so you could maybe add a notch filter to that, the deck a/b load aren't shifted so there is another two (shifted) buttons, hell you could even shift the shift buttons to make two more super shifts to triple the available buttons if you were really keen LOL. And you effectively have 8 leds to tell you what is going on which can easily be doubled to 16 using blink...

Synth...you have to get one bud...you can go mental with the mapping...I'm just sitting here thinking about the things I actually use...things like effects, filter, etc, I don't use with VDJ...so I can trim the mapping to stuff I actually use.

If you don't have one already or have one on order...what are you waiting for?.... :)

Nah, I'm happy with my turntables for now the 2go is just too small for me, but seriously considering selling the TT's and getting a ns6 when it's released in Aus, I can guarantee I would do some stupidly crazy mapping on that thing :P

Also If you don't use a filter download this one http://studio-qb.com/qb-filter and use
deck 1 effect "qb_filter" slider 3 & deck 1 effect "qb_filter" slider 2 90%

Trust me this thing sounds pristine (setting are for HP/LP notch filter, but you can also have just HP or just LP)

As I've got an Kontrol S4 (working with Traktor Pro2 and Virtual DJ Pro 7)...this was just a "it's only £49, so what the hell" purchase...but I can say that it'll live in the laptop bag for those impromptu parties :) :)

i have got to get me one of these, and my daughter too...she would love this unit, can someone tell me the length please?

30cm long x 8cm wide x 2cm high

alright so I couldn't help myself, I am turning this little plastic toy into a formidable dj tool capable of much more than it should be able to do, looks like I'll be getting one next week LOL...

I put in another shift to include these function on top of the other ones, but this one is beatsynced

Normal - shifted
jog - if looping loop move otherwise effect slider
play pause - don't know, maybe go to start of song
Cue - brake effect like ns6
sync - don't know, maybe set shift to adjust cbg with browse knob
(pfl) shift
pitch bend (-) - switch volume knob to control bass eq - engage a 4 beat loop or while looping half the loop
pitch bend (+) - switch volume knob to control treble eq - engage a 16 beat loop or while looping double the loop
(volume) bass or treble eq - notch filter sweep
(load A) browser folder - hold load A - if looping move loop backwards same amount as current loop
(load B) browser songs - hold load B - if looping move loop forwards same amount as current loop
(back) deck 1 effect on - sampler select while button is down, play stop when released
(enter) deck 2 effect on - sampler select while button is down, play stop when released
(browse) browse - effect select, sample select if holding sampler button
(headphone vol) headphone crossfader - headphone volume
(pitch fader) deck volume - granular beatmasher
Crossfader - dual highpass filter crossfader

I saw your vid on youtube simon, it looks like a great little unit, but I think I found something better... check it out below and only £82.50 on juno

iCon iDJ (USB MIDI DJ controller with OptiSen optical scratch wheels)

It does look cute.

A few more fancy options for DJs who want to maybe trigger samples or hot cues - but it's twice the price!

It appears to be £99 on Juno now, and on most other UK sites.

ICON also have a device called an iStage which looks interesting (pure button-fest!) but again not cheap.

@ Synth...the Icon unit is pretty cool, but to be honest I'd rather use my S4 for really getting into it...the DJ2GO, for me, is a "chuck it in the laptop bag for those impromptu parties" controller.

I like the DJ2GO's simplicity and it's honesty. It isn't trying to be a fully fledged control surface...it is what it is. If I want to control samples, effects etc as well, I can always plug in my Korg nanoPad which gives me 48 buttons and 4 x-y pads...and the combined cost of the nanoPAD and DJ2GO is a little less than the Icon unit.

wow icon idj looks cool and soo much options, does vdj support it?

I don't think so, but when It gets here I'll be mapping it :) but it will only be available to registered pro users... Also you should bare in mind that this really is a toy, it should not be considered as a primary controller for either learning on or playing out with, you would probably be better off with a RMX or a Mixtrack, but it does have a nice list of features, if only it was a bit bigger...

14 mappable knobs
18 mappable buttons
6 set buttons (play, cue, vinyl mode)
4 vertical faders (pitch, volume)
adjustable crossfader curve (built into the unit)
the buttons are backlit, with red leds behind most of them (waiting to hear if the leds can receive midi on/off messages)
touch sensitive jogs
software to set CC data

I'm still getting one cause I want a toy LOL
