Hi,
I'm running 5.2.1 and all was working fine but my usb 2.0 external hdd was full so I have just changed the external drive to a larger usb 2.0 drive.
playing audio works fine however the cpu seems to be at about 80% this finally settled but if i try to play any video file or clipbank the cpu hits the roof and the laptop crashes or freezes, however title works fine and i can still get my second monitor to display the cue logo with no issues.
All i have changed is the hdd so driving me mad any ideas.
just in case you are wondering I'm still using 5.2.1 as my laptop is a dual core 2gig with 4 gig memory but it did not like running 6 is it worth trying 7 or is the processor too low.

We would always recommend using the most latest version of the software. The system above should be more than adequate for VirtualDJ v7.

NOTE: It's normal for high CPU usage while loading a song. This should not have any impact on the live playing song/video and CPU usage should go back to normal (Low) once the song has loaded in full.

Hi thanks for the reply.
I'm aware that the cpu goes up whilst loading a track but my cpu was up to 80% almost all the time with nothing running in the back ground. it has settled now but still unable to play anything from the clipbank or anything else apart from titler.
Will try 7 when is 7.4 availible to download as its still currently 7.2. only didnt upgrade as when i had issues with 6 technical support said it required a 3gig processor to run hence the problems as i Have a core duo 2 1.66gig processor.

Above you said 'dual core 2gig' which we assumed meant dual core 2Ghz processor which would be enough for audio and in most cases video mixing.
1.66Ghz is far too slow for video mixing, even in v5.2.1. It should be OK for audio mixing except for low latency ASIO audio with timecode CD/vinyl control.
Depending on your video card capabilities, it should still be possible to play videos but CPU usage will be high. You may be able to improve this by following the tips on the page above, but ideally for video mixing you need a better specification computer.
