Why?: I had a bunch of issues with getting my set up running and trawled these forums for a solution with no luck.
After getting it to work after several hours of trying every combination, I managed to find a configuration that worked for me, so I thought I'd post it here in the hope someone might be looking for a thread like this.
Firstly, I am not an expert at all, just another DJ, so if this doesn't work then we have different cards/systems.
This set up is for a laptop (Vista, Realtech HD audio), HERCULES, and amp or mixing desk, using RCA leads (the red and black plugs -audio out on the Hercules).
Firstly check that your herc has the green tick.
Go Start>Control Panel>Sounds - under the playback tab you should see it ticked, if this is not the case just select the Hercules at default by right clicking on it.

Starting up VirtualDJ in the top right hand corner click "CONFIG"

I know there are alot of people doing different things, but I figured this is a nice easy set up for those on a PC laptop.

BTW - if anyone knows the codes to embed images, I'd love to have my little J-Pegs show up. Nothing I attempted worked, if I am not allowed to post images maybe a mod could do it for me? ... cheers...K
