I have a recurring issue where the audio coming from both the headphones and the line out channel have static and popping noises. The static in the line out comes and goes, but it is constant in the headphones. I've read several posts on here and tried many suggestions. Part of what has made this so absolutely infuriating is that on a couple occasions, it seemed that I had identified the cause, only to find that the problem continued. For example, at one point, I had found that unplugging the laptop running VDJ from AC power fixed the issue. However, when I tried to find a way to work around this, the static eventually began to happen even without AC power.
After that, I had discovered that minimizing VDJ seemed to alleviate the problem. As long as the application was minimized, everything worked well and there was no more static or popping. This led me to believe that it was a video issue. So, I set to resolving this through new drivers and eventually going so far as to rebuild the operating system. However, not only did this not fix the problem, eventually, the static began occurring even with VDJ minimized.
I have also tried things like disabling the wifi or the ethernet adapter, but that didn't help either. I've tried adjusting the latency settings but they seem to have literally no impact no matter what I do. Safe mode on or off, doesn't matter.
I haven't tried the DCP Latency checker yet, but that is my next step. I'm at work now, so i won't be able to try that out until this evening.
Has anyone had these same symptoms? And more importantly, can anyone help?
Here's my setup. If you need additional info, please let me know.
Dell Insprion 9400
Core 2 Duo T5200 1.6 Ghz
2 gigs RAM
Radeon Mobility X1400
Windows XP Pro SP3 (although I also tried Windows 7, and had the same problem)
Numark Mixtrack Pro
VDJ 7 LE (Mixtrack Bundle)
Sound driver is set to Numark with Single out + Headphones

Are you using exactly the same computer hardware, controller and software as that guy?
If not, please provide details of what you're using.

I tried a new skin for the first time this weekend and had the exact same problem, halfway through my show I switched back to the standard vdj 2 deck skin and the static went away....I have never had the noise prior to using the new skin

I have the Numark Mixtrak Pro, and I am having the same come-and-go static problems as well. I attributed this to the Numark as when I started using the sound card on it, that is when I would experience the noise. This would be either in the headphones, the output, or both. I don't remember, but I also this it would effect other sound outputs as well. anyhow, since I stopped using the sound card option for the Numark, I have not had that problem. I remember someone talking about a mismatch between bitrate and/or Htz coming from the computer, but I have not really had any luck changing those options either. I am sure the Mixtrack is where the problem is, but i am not sure how. I can still use it as a nice controler, but not for sound.

Stuttering, popping, static, distortion and other similar sound issues are normally caused by performance issues with your computer or incorrect configuration in VirtualDJ.
Please see: http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Performance%20Issues.html
Make sure that you also have the latest drivers and firmware installed for any hardware that you are using.

The only thing other than updating the software to the latest versions that I have done different is to use a new skin, and once I went back to the original skin the static went away. Maybe it was a coincidence.

Possibly the skin that you chose has higher system requirements due to being more complex than the default.
Also, if its size doesn't match your screen resolution and you had either resized or maximised it, then this may cause performance issues and/or increased CPU usage depending on your graphic card's 2D capabilities.

I had this issue when using a PC that didn't have a large enough power supply to handle keyboard, mouse, HDMI out and an external mixer/sound card.
I solved it (mostly) with a powered USB hub for the devices instead of powering them off the PC, and making sure nothing else was running in the the background.
It still shows up, mostly when I'm at home and running Photoshop or another processor heavy application in addition to VDJ.

I'm having distortion/static issues with my Numark Mixtrack Pro as well. In the past few weeks, there has been a great deal of static coming from whatever speaker source I try. I've tried new RCA cables and different speakers but still get the feedback/static/low volume, no clue what the problem is. I'm going to try to install latest drivers today and see if this solves anything (doubt it does).
I have never had this issue until recently as it randomly came up one day when I plugged my speakers in

Had Same problem & I tried this think it fixed problem please let me know...thanks Recent laptops incorporate a feature that reduces the speed of the processor. This allows
to save energy, but again, is not desirable for audio purposes, as it may induce pops, clicks
and noise.
This feature, known as CPU Throttling, SpeedStep or SmartCPU, is usually turned OFF
when the computer’s power scheme is set to ALWAYS ON/ High Performance, but may
also require changes in the BIOS.

This is common for laptops that are usually built and configured with typical home/office users in mind, so are configured for maximum battery life rather than maximum performance.

I'm not sure this will help but if you have an iPod connected to your setup, disconnect the power plug and see what happens. For me the source of unwanted scratchy noise was coming from various iPod power cables. I found that the farther away from my mixer i plugged in the ipod, the less problems i had with noise. Don't know why this is the case.Worth a try.

Ground loop issues are also common problem - Please see:

I had exactly the same problem with the Hercules Rmx - the fix I found was that in the config where you select the input device there was a checkbox that said "Apply EQ on External Inputs" - If the box was checked - i would uncheck it or vice versa. For some reason this worked for me. Don't know if this may help.
