Topic: Denon MC6000 - PC MIx mode

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Well, with the INT MIX mode giving me several problems, I am now trying to work with PC Mix mode. I have made all the settings as required:

Set the switch on back of DN-MC6000 to PC MIX
I am NOT setting MIDI as the source for channel 1 & 4, since I am using only 2 decks.
Press CF Mode to choose both AUDIO and VIDEO
Inputs: Line INs
Outputs: Headphones
Sound card: ASIO -> Denon ASIO Driver
APPLY

Now I am having these problems:

1) Deck 1 on VDJ is routed through Channel 3 on the Denon
2) Deck 2 on VDJ is routed through Channel 2 on the Denon
3) When I crossfade, there is noise and jerkiness on the output
4) The VU meters don't respond to the channel fader going up or down.

I really need to get this ironed out before I take it on the road. I'd really appreciate any ideas on what might be causing these problems...

Eric honestly I can't understand what exactly you want to do...

You are using 2 decks. For this purpose it would be best to use the INT MIX mode, and not PC MIX mode.
However in INT MIX mode you can't have auto-headphones since MC is working as a HARDWARE mixer.
Also, the VU's of the MC in INT MIX are working as PFL vu's. You won't see them go lower when you tamper with your crossfader or upfaders. However you will see that they respond in GAIN adjustments. This is the standard behavior of all hardware mixers.

In PC MIX mode:
When you are using 2 decks, VDJ binds CH1-3 & CH2-4 on the mixer. That means that if you set all 4 channels in MIDI mode you'll see that you can "control" the volume of deck 1 from both CH1 and CH3 faders.

The solution to your problem is to remap the volume slider:
action_deck 1 ? deck 3 volume_slider : action_deck 2 ? deck 1 volume_slider : action_deck 3 ? deck 2 volume_slider : action_deck 4 ? deck 4 volume_slider
Even if you use only 2 decks you should map it for 4 decks usage. The above mapping will change the logical layer of controls on the mixer to be: CH3 // CH1 // CH2 // CH4 instead of the original CH1 // CH2 // CH3 // CH4

Of course, if you decide to change the logical layout you'll have to remap the PFL button and the EQ_knobs too...

Another way to solve tour problem would be to switch CH1 & CH2 to MIDI mode and leave CH3 and CH4 to line/aux-in mode using the original logical layout

For your VU's issues:
VDJ features two types of VU's: "deck 1 get level" and "deck 1 get vu_meter"
The first syntax will give you the deck's 1 INPUT vu as on any typical mixer.
The second syntax might be what you're looking for since it will give you the OUTPUT VU of deck 1. In other words you'll see the VU to lower down when you lower the volume of the deck and you won't see the VU at all when the volume is set to zero...

Perhaps if you can describe better what you want to do I might be able to help you out more...
