Topic: Audio 8 Sounds like a good bowl of cereal- Snap Crackle Pop

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Computer:
Toshiba Satellite A-505
Windows 7 64 bit
4 gigs RAM
2.6 Ghz core 2 processor

I finally got an audio 8 dj so I can start learning how to mix with 3/4 decks to make better EDM mixes. When I plug it in and have nothing else plugged in, it works fine. When I connect my RMX and have the sound setup set to single output, it is fine. As soon as I switch it to 'external mixer' or 'advanced config' with 4 deck output, Virtual DJ basically freezes, the play button stops working, and the only sound that comes out is a really choppy, distorted, delayed sound. I downloaded and installed the new drivers from NI, and have the same problem. I'm pretty sure my computer is good enough to run it because I can run a pair of V7's without any problems.

Help?

Thanks in advance (:

LOL! The new beta drivers did that to mine aswell... I just installed one of the previous drivers works fine now, you should also adjust your latency until you get the right balance of sound quality and and responsiveness. but latency may not really apply to you using a midi controller, Im honestly not sure as I use TT's and timecode vinyl so for me latency is everything.

Which one did you install? I installed the one right before the beta one, I heard the beta one sucks , but still have the problem.

Id just go with the disc that came with it. I to had problems with the beta but after switching back its all good.

I had the problem with the drivers that came with the disk... that's why I updated them lol

I'm going to guess it was this one "Audio 8 DJ Driver 2.0.15 - Windows" I'm operating on win7 32bit

I'm not sure if its the driver anymore... when I don't have either of my controllers plugged in the sound works fine
When I have my rmx plugged in it loads songs a lot slower but still works.
And when I have my V7's plugged in, it either freezes or crashes my comp to the point where i get a blue screen titled "Fatal System Bus Error..."

Like I said before, I'm running it on Windows 7 64 bit w/ 4 gigs RAM and 2.6 ghz core 2 duo processor... maybe upgrading my processor to a core i5 or i7 would help?

if it is just a dj laptop and not used for anything else I would consider going from 64bit to 32bit I had nothing but trouble with 64bit.

It's not just my DJ laptop, but I don't think I need 64 bit for stuff like email and word processing haha. I looked up some of the differences between 32 bit and 64 bit windows, and it said that device drivers designed for 32 bit won't work with a 64 bit OS, so that would make sense.

Thanks (:
