Hello,
I can use some help with the MacBook Pro and the Hercules MK4.
I think I've tried everything, but the right thing apparently.
I've installed the console software (and the latest drivers later) and the Virtual DJ LE that comes with the console (updated it aswell).
But the message it's just the same since first day. When i double click the VDJ icon, when it's on "Initializing external devices" the error message pops up " The controller has not been detected. Please plug in the controller and start VirtualDj again"
Just tried with an Windows and it worked just fine, so the console it's working.
Any help please?? Thanks.

First thing you will want to do it to verify that the Mk4 is correctly installed, as described in this document:

Hi. I'm having the same problem. Checked under Audio Midi Set up per your instructions and noticed that the Hercules DJ Console MK4 Aggregate Device wasn't there. Is this the issue? If so, how can I ensure that it's in the Audio Midi Set up?

Hello again,
I should have said something, I´m sorry, and thanks for the help.
But unfortunatly the problem it´s still there. I've been in touch with the Hercules Technical Help for the last month or so, without having solved the problem, they are trying to solve what apparently occurs in some cases.
They said that there can be a incompatibility betwen MAC OSX 10.6.6, the MK4 and the VDJ LE version. So apparently this could be the problem, they said that they are trying to resolve it with new drivers.
So I'm expecting.
Thanks again.

Have you tried reinstalling the latest driver (v2.47), following these instructions:
http://ts.hercules.com/download/sound/txt/DJ_Series_INSTALLATION__OSX_EN.pdf
@ jmdsfr
Coming back to my previous suggestion, was the Mk4 installed correctly on your computer ?
Did Technical support explained how to "remove" all trace of Virtual DJ so you could try a new installation ?
If not, here is how:
- Delete the main Virtual DJ program from Applications
- Delete the Virtual DJ folder in Document
- Delete the file com.atomixproducts.virtualdj.plist from User > Library > Preferences folder
Empty the trash, then proceed to the installation of the latest VDJ update.

jmdsr,
I have exactly the same problem with my MK4. I followed what you said but I still have the problem. Only that the version of my vdj is (install_virtualdj_djc_v6.1.2.dmg). What version is yours? Thanks for any help.

Hello Art,
sorry about the delay, just noticed your question. Yes I have the same version 6.1.2. So some step is missing from your side. In the set up do you have the aggregate ?

I'm in a similar boat with the MK4 but I'm stuck with this "invalid skin file (error line %i in the xml)". Does anyone know how to fix this issue? I guess it's common but I can't seem to get this to work.
Posted Thu 14 Apr 11 @ 11:50 pm
First, do you have a folder called VirtualDJ in Document ?
If the folder is not there, then try installing VDJ again, as this folder is necessary (it contain among other things the skin files).

The most common cause of this error is installing the software while logged in as one user (E.g: Fred) and then trying to run it as a different user (E.g: Joe.)
The other user is missing the /users/USERNAME/Documents/VirtualDJ folder (Or for new installations of v7.0.3 or above, /users/YOURNAME/Library/VirtualDJ folder.) The program will not run without this.
To resolve, please either:
(1) Install the software as the user you will be running it as.
(2) Manually copy the Documents/VirtualDJ and/or Library/VirtualDJ folder across to the other user.
If the above does not help, please try the following:
(1) Delete the following file: MacintoshHD -> Users/YOURNAME/Library/Preferences/com.atomixproductions.virtualdj.plist
(2) Go to the Download Center and download the latest installation file: http://www.virtualdj.com/download/updates.html
(3) Install the software using the installation file that you downloaded above.

Ok, so when I tried connecting my MK4 through a DJ mixer, I am not able to get the Pre Fade Listen on my headphones.
I tried on a Pioneer mixer and through a Gemini mixer.
Are there any specific settings to be changed?
It works well otherwise, as in through a normal 6 channel mixer.

@ Flyatribe
Could you be a little more explicit about how everything is connect and configured ?
Since the LE version included with the MK4 doesn't allow you to change the audio configuration, the main mix will always come out of Output 1-2 and the headphone preview from Output 3-4 (a duplicate of the headphone output).
Knowing this, for example , if you connect the MK4 to 2 channels of a mixer (1-2 to channel #1 and 3-4 to channel #2), then your "headphone" preview will be on channel #2 .
@ Leopullaster
Try using the latest driver (v3.31) from the support site instead of the ones provided on the CD, which might be a bit old:

do you have your headphones plugged into the mk4?.. Or are you plugging them into the mixer. The headphones need to be plugged into the mk4. And make sure you turn the volume knob up
