Hi guys,
I was just mixing at home, quite normally, as I always do, and crack, my headphones snapped, they were the Sony headphones (around £50), they seem beyound repair, glue may work, but I doubt it..

So now, i'm on the hunt for a new pair, and of course I know my stuff on the product range etc, but what i'm looking for, is your user experiences, what headphones have proven most reliable and durable to you?, and do you think it is better to pay more or less for good headphones?, I would say you get what you pay for, but with headphones, it seems like an exception, as most brands and all priced headphones are sensitive, I have heard simular reports of breakages, on expensive products, for little reason, other than poor, weak design, such as technics etc.

Please tell me your experiences, and bear in mind i'm not willing to spend a great deal of money just on headphones.

Bagpuss, out of mixing for a few days, lol.

I have found these Pioneers, which look good, reduced from £79.00, to £49.00, not bad, and they have been reviewed as very durable etc. So I may go for these next, and pray, that they aren't added to my personal graveyard of headphones after a year, lol.

Hey Bagpuss...:o)

I was a bit hard up when i bought my first set of phones and so bought a pair that only cost like £10/£15 overall. They were ok and the sound from them was pretty good. In fact, they can still be used even now...and if they snap like your Sonys, well, it'll only be another tenner to replace them, which you won't grudge.

What's the point in paying top dollar for a set of phones (especially from somewhere like Sony) if they're gonna snap!?!?!?

Although, to be fair, the Pioneer ones DO look pretty neat...

Keep spinnin'

P :o)

Sennheiser make specialist headphones that are made to take abuse (not that you deliberately want to break them!) but they are totally flexible and have minijacks on the end of cables so they pull out rather than pulling the headset. :o) I have a pair of HD457s which are excellent. they dont have either features mentioned above but i'm still wearin them in my bedroom (after running over them many times in my chair lol) they cost £30. Check them out www.sennheiser.com

I would buy another pair anytime. My last one's headband just snapped and they were a pair of Phillips.

Hope that helps...

Sennheisers hd25 are "made for last",
They are expensive, but worth their money.
I bought them before a week.
Also check the hd280, simillar sound, good looking, cheaper.

I use the Sennheiser 280Pro's and am very happy with them.

They have about 32dB of ambient attenuation which is vey good for work in a loud club or party, or an echoey venue. The cups swivel into various directions to make them comfortable for double, single, or shoulder mounted use.

My only complaint is that they have one of those spiral cords and we all know how much those can get tangled. If they had a jack right on the headset like some of the other models, it would be perfect because I could replace the cord.

A bit pricey, but worth the money if you use them often.

Thanks for your contributions and reccomendations, Has anyone tried the Vestax headphones here?,

The only DJ headphones I can get (without) importing, is these Vestax, I took a look today, and they look stronger than the Sonys, but i'm sceptical, as the others snapped, the design here is simular, the part that joins the ear pads to the headband, not sure if their is any good alternative, that are built differentely..

These Vestax are Expensive, so don't want to waste more money..

I live in Sarajevo (Bosnia), although their are more music/DJ stores here than my home town in England, they don't stock a variety of headphones, and to be honest, they are more expensive than in England, because they are imported etc. Noramally i'd buy my stuff from decks.co.uk, or a simular site, but I don't think these online stores deliver to the outside of the UK.

That's my dillema.., i don't wanna go over £50 on the headphones.

For that I can get either:
Sonys (not again)
Pioneer
Numarks
Senheiser
Technics

So i'll see, i'm likeing the pioneer model, because i've read good reviews on them, and all say they are extremly strong, the Numarks are great too, as they have interchangable ear cups, cables etc.
