Topic: Program a Shift Button on the Hercules RMX DJConsole

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Some people out there were having trouble programming a "shift" button in Virtual DJ for their Hercules RMX DJ console, so here's a quickfire way to do it.

In my version I have re-mapped the "Scratch" button to serve as the "Shift" button.
I have then reprogrammed the effects buttons 1-6 (which come as standard loop in, loop out, pitch bend down, pitch bend up, beat grid, flanger) to have dual functions when the "Shift" aka "Scratch" button is pressed.

STEP 1:
got to the CONFIG menu and select the MAPPERS tab.
From the dropdown menu on the top left, select the "Hercules DJConsole RMX"

STEP 2:
scroll down the list of keys and select the SCRATCH key
In the "Key Learn" dialog box you should see the word SCRATCH
in the "Action Learn" dialogue box, paste the following: deck 1 toggle 'shift' & deck 2 toggle 'shift'

STEP 3:
now to reprogram the effects buttons.
scroll down the list of keys and select the BUTTON1 key
in the "Action Learn" dialogue box, paste the following: var 'shift' ? loop 0.5 : djc_button 1

so when the Scratch button is pressed it will activate a half beat loop,
and when its not pressed it was function as it was originally programmed

you can the do similar thing for the rest of the effects buttons, or any other button you wish.

hope this helps.

P.S. I also reprogrammed the BALANCE knob to: effect default slider 1
