Topic: Is It possible to Sort Keys and to sort BPM within the Key results or vs?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Is It possible in Virtual DJ to sort by Keys and within that result sort by BPM? I am just wondering!

I'm not sure you can do that but you can create filter folders to do something similar...

Can you tell me how to create that?

Yes you can. I was wondering the same thing some time ago, and it turns out the solution is so simple that it's almost counter-intuitive :)

First click the BPM-column header, then click the KEY-column header, and PRESTO!

This is the best feature of VDJ imo, I use it all of the time.

I use the key numeric system rather than the key itself.

Sort by bpm first, then sort the key and the bpm will be ascending by key 1-12.
When you mix, move up or down one numeric value at a time.

This is an awesome feature.

You can also use the "Registry Tool". You can make it do that by default with that. Its a pretty slick tool.

I tried It and It did not work. When BPM column Is pressed It is sorted by BPM and when the Key column is pressed it is simply sorted now by Keys only and not both BPM & Keys.

You must be doing something wrong.

Original load of folder

Sorted by bpm

Then sorted by key over bpm

How are you getting the key to sort by numbers?
All I can find is by letter.
What am I missing.

Right click on the header and select Key Numeric.

Since you want to sort by bpm and key, I guess it's so you can find songs that you can mix in with what's playing...

If it is, there's a good filter folder for that:

bpmdiff<=4 and keydiff=0

It shows all the songs within 4bpms and 1 Chamolot key of the currently playing song.

Silly rabbit. Never noticed this before.
Thanks Rick

Andy; Thanks I already have this filter set

One of the best features of VDJ that ssl users crave btw...
The mixes you can do on the fly is amazing and the songs you find without using the luck of your tone ear is incredible.
