Whenever I scratch into the beat it shuts itself off. I tried reinstalling, I tried different music, different formats. Any suggestions?

Your computer specs seem ok to me. Do you have lots of other applications or services running?
What you could do to make sure it's not your computer, is to install windows 2000 on a separate harddrive, with no additional software.
So you keep your current setup for backup on the harddrive your currently are using.
Another suggestion is to read in the Bug report or technical questions forum, to see it's not a common issue
