If it was going to be video decks, I reckon you could assign each deck to whichever side of the crossfader you wanted with an "a/b" switch on each deck. I'm sure some kind of generic fade could be used if I assigned 2 video sources to the same side of the crossfader (linked to the volume faders might be cool too)
Also, I was thinking about a little grid of buttons for the clone deck feature so that any deck can be cloned to any other deck.
A => <= B
|| \\ . // ||
v . v .v . v
^ . ^ ^ .^
|| // . \\ ||
C => <= D
Hmmmmm, hopefully it would look clearer in actual buttons, perhaps not if it looks as confusing as that does!
And yeah, good point about the skin makers being able to implement any new features however they want. But I'm pretty sure most users just use stuff straight out of the box and don't bother looking on the internet for skins like we do, so I think it's pretty important for atomix to get any new features (extra decks or anything else for that matter) just right on the initial release. And if apple has taught computer geeks anything, it's that the interface is just as important as the features themselves! That's why it got me thinking and I made this "what would it look like?" thread.

hmmm. Assign video crossfade. Yes, cool.
beat grid and waveform could be assignable too. simply have buttons 1 to 4 and right click left click to select which deck you want it to show..

It'll take some doing, but in my opinion, Atomix needs to implement native four deck support just to stay competitive and catch up with the competition. It may be a niche feature, but it could very well be the differentiator for a lot of DJs out there.

Skrew one skin, why don't you just use two monitors, running 2 instances of VDJ. Thats what I do. The only trouble is to record your mixes since you can only record 2 decks at a time.
