Topic: keyboard macros for VDJ?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

so I am hearing about how you can set up a ton of macros for interfaces with the external equipment.

But can I set up a bunch of keyboard macros so that I can control the program without externals? Like can I make a macro like:

V=crossfader left
B=Crossfader right

this is of the mind that a mouse cursor can only be in one place at a time.....

and will I still retain and be able to use them if I hook up external hardware??

thanks!! these links are amazing!!!

It looks like I have to be a rocket scientist to make these scripts. hopefully I can get to using this correctly....

crossfader : move the crossfader. crossfader 0% will only let the left deck out, crossfader 100% will only let the right deck out.

so in your first example it would be;

V=crossfader 0%
B=Crossfader 100%
or
Shift V=crossfader -2%
Shift B=crossfader +2%

P.S.
its sounds like your a pro user..
You should register your software in your profile, so we know your a paid Pro user.. :-)

If it is a supported MIDI controller such as a Hercules DJ Console, etc. then it will already be mapped (E.g: If it has a crossfader, then this will control the crossfader in VirtualDJ by default.)

You can change the mappings if you wish to suit your own preferences.

LOL. thanks.

Actually I am about to buy the software. Years ago a friend of mine got me a cracked version, and i loved it. My brother had Serrato, but i didn't really feel that.

I just DL'ed the trial just to make sure that I like this. From the Laptop, I intend to pickup necessary harware, though from me just playing with it so far, I'll probably start with a Controller, Like Hercules RMX. And from the chart that's laid out, I'd probably just wear the price and get Pro. Doesn't make sense to have something, and then wish I had Pro to use certain features.

right now on the trial version, I was looking at the Crossfader +/- 10%. I was hoping that I could find a way to change it to like 5%. that i would prefer better.

Speak to you guys like a colleague for real when i up and purchase the Pro software...

In that case, save yourself some money. Buy the RMX and then upgrade to Pro. You get a significant discount when you do...

Buying the other way round seems pointless ;-)

Cheers,

Roy

How much does it cost to upgrade the software?

I mean, I won't mind paying a certain amount, but I would need time. Like if it were $50 for the upgrade, then I'd do it in a heartbeat.

But It would take some time to gather up the money to buy both products. And I'm getting the hang of the keyboard playing with VDJ. Still think I'd be better off with the RMX eventually.

Edit: yeah, I was messing around with the config, and found a way to change the crossfader from +/- 10% to 5% without having to write scripts. so yeah, I'm happy with this software
