Good day Virtual DJ community.
This is the first where I also come to if I need help or support. The members on this forum are so helpful, that one can't go wrong here!
Okay, I need some advice from the experts here:
I am wedding DJ and I am looking at purchasing either the Numark Omni control or the Hercules RMX mixer.
These are my needs:
1. Mobility - I need to carry around a lot of equipment, so size (and weight) does matter
2. Quality Sound - I need great sound quality coming from the mixer
3. Power - Little to no troubles with USB power
4. No Effect Needed - I don't really require special effects or kill switches on the mixer
5. Needs to have built in sound cards
6. Needs to integrate 100% into Virtual DJ
Could anyone please assist me getting the mixer that will help met be a better DJ.
I have heard some pro's and con's on both the mixers, but I want to hear this from users that already using the mixer.
So, bearing the above in mind, which would you recommend for my needs?
Omni Control or RMX ?
Thank you so much for your time!

Both are good, but I think the one that would best suit you is this:
It's a midi controller (that comes with VDJ) and also has a standard mixer built into it so If you're clients are like mine They occasionally want to plug stuff into your mixer, you can, and if on the rare occasion you have a computer freeze or something you can keep music going an ipod or mp3 player while you
reboot.

Thank you very much or the reply.
That mixer indeed looks like a great piece of equipment.
The only problem is that (a) it's only available in July this year and (ii) it's a bit pricier than the above 2 mixers.
And I need the mixer before the end of June.
So, still the question remains ... which one of the two? :-)

I own the RMX and the Stealth, which is the Omni, minus the soundcard. There is no bad decision for you to make here. Both the RMX and Stealth are great controllers for the price.

I have used the Rmx with VDJ and I have never had a problem. It is my backup system, just in case my NS7 stops working or I have any problems.

The RMX is awesome, but I prefer the Numark controllers because of the knob that you use to move through your library is super fast and easy to learn.

I have the RMX w/ VDJ & love it. I've never had a problem. As technology has marched on in the 2 or so years since thee RMX has been introduuced there are better products on the market, or coming to it shortly. The highly anticipated American Audio VMS4 is on the cutting edge. The problem with the RMX is that it's powered solely by its' USB connection to the lappy. If the computer goes, so does the RMX, and all the back up external inputs you have input into it.
The VMS4 is BOTH Miidi & Analog powered. This way if the lappy goes down or needs a reboot you can still play off of the external inputs with no problem. In addition to that the VMS4 has a highly desired 2nd Microphone input. It's debut is scheduled for July 2010. It's being bundled with VDJ LE. Odyssey is alread making a case for it with a Laptop Glide shelf. I can't wait to get my hands on one. Good luck! -Z-

I've been using the RMX also. I've had a few issues, but I think that they were USB related on my lappy and not the RMX itself. Ever since I made some changes, I've had no trouble with the RMX so far, even after hours of abuse. However, it is still important to have a direct-connect backup for those unforseen instances when things DO go wrong, so I still haven't parted with my mixer...Direct inputs are nice to have during a crash.
The VMS4 is apparently the solution in that respect, I suppose...We'll see.

Anyone know if you can monitor the microphone/s through your headphones with the VMS4 (unlike the RMX)?

I also own and use the RMX. You can't beat it for the price. It also has its own soundcard and extra inputs. I run a timecode vinyl setup with my RMX. Cheapest way Ive come across really, plus you have midi functions. I still wouldn't consider the RMX top of the line but then again it doesn't cost a fortune. Problem with the VMS4 is that its a 4 channel mixer and VDJ only supports 2 channels!

Thanks everyone for the feedback.
So it seems like the RMX is the way to go (for now).
Once again, thank you for your feedback. Much appreciated.

I have to agree with Marcel that the VMS4 is the way to go for sound quality (XLR outs) and dependability (analog mixer) and adaptability (doesn't require computer.)
I fact, I have the money set aside to dump on a VMS4 the second it becomes available.
But since you have heart set on an RMX, did I mention that mine is for sale? ;)
