I guess this is a mapping issue, but I hope there is an easier way to stop this. It's so damn annoying ...
So, I am playing a song. I start to look for the next track so I type a song title or artist name into the search field in VDJ. I have to use the space bar because the search string is several words long. When I press the space bar the song I'm playing out live suddenly stops! I press the space bar again and of course the song resumes from where it left off.
I know what is happening. The cursor has left the search field, for a reason unknown to me, so the space bar does the job it would normally do and act as a stop/start.
The thing is, I never use the space bar in VDJ to stop/start a song and I never will. Is there any way I can disable this feature? Of course I still want to be able to use the space bar in my searching.
Thanks
John

Take a look in your 'config' - 'mapper' - 'Keyboard' section and delete the shortcut for the space bar.

As long as it made you happy Blulite.
Thanks Jakovski. The more I delve into this amazing programme, the more I like it. Admittedly I should spend more time getting to know its many functions, but I have very little free time.
Many, many thanks.

So when I am searching for a song, when I hit space bar to go to the next word, it stops the song and advances the next song in the lineup!! I already disabled the shortcut last week, but it still did it to me again tonight. Why is this going on??? Help!!!

Did you remember to SAVE the keyboard shortcuts after you changed it??

Next time you should probably open a new thread instead of reviving a 2 year old post that doesn't relate to your problem.
The original post was for play/pause, not changing songs.
Are you using automix or the karaoke plugin when this happens?
Make sure there are no other references to the space bar in your mapper.
Are you clicking OK when your done changing the mapper, not the X

Ok so this was a post relating to stopping a song when the space bar was hit... Sorry I'm new here and I thought my problem related. Yes I was using the karaoke and yes I saved after I deleted the space bar short cut... Any suggestions?

Unless you need them, just turn off keyboard shortcuts all together. I never use the software without a controller, so I never need the shortcuts on.

It is a bug in the karaoke plugin. It has nothing to do with the keyboard shortcuts. The plugin was not from Atomix, it was created by a user. I made it a habit to click on the search bar after anything I did with the karaoke popup. Clicking on te search bar takes the focus away from the popup and back to the program. Then you can type away.

If I would have thought the posters post to be unrelated I would have locked this post, but it was related and valid.

U
I'm confused with your reply... I don't think u see what's happening...
The space bar problem moves the song playing off the player, (mid song) and advances the next karaoke song in the lineup to the player... Im hitting the space bar while in the search bar beecause im searching for the next song while someone is singing. After i type one word i hit the space bar to move to the second word, and thats when their song stops and the next one starts up. What should I do to fix this (if anything)?

Without the karaoke plugin running, the space bar is defaulty mapped to start/pause a song. If you remove that mapping, that function will not happen.
With the karaoke plugin, the space bar act's like you clicked on the next button on the plugin, immediatly ejecting the playing song and loading/playing the next one in the list. Normally, when not running the plugin, you would get a waring pop-up asking if you wanted to interrupt a song that was currently playing. When using the plugin, and clicking the button, you do not get that warning.
If you searched for a song, drag it to the list, and enter a singer, then that shows up in the list. If you click next, it will load and play the next song. At this point, you can start typing a search in the browser, but when you hit space, it causes the problem you are experiencing. If you remove the play/pause space mapping, it will not make a difference with the karaoke plugin.
You have to click on something like the browser search or something so the plugin does not see when you hit space. This clicking takes the focus away from the plugin, and back to VDJ proper. Another thing that happens when the plugin is in focus, is that it automatically loads and plays the next song when the current playing one is over. When you click away, this does not happen, the song just ends.

But I'm in the browser search bar when this happens...searching for new songs to load... & I also don't understand why, after using VDJ for the last 10 months, this never happened until recently
