Topic: Novation Nocturn? how to use in VDJ?

I see people on here with the NOCTURN WORKING in VDJ.. However, I can not get it to do anything.. it does work with the mapper software it comes with but VDJ doesnt see it and the simple midi wrapper doesnt do anything.. does anyone know how to get this working? I want to be able to MAP the cross fader on the nocturn witj VDJ video cross fader and map some other buttons on it to other VDJ things.. any ideas??

I have tried everthing.. I also see people in the forums who cant get it working but there seemed to never be anyone who posted a solution...

I am runing the latest version of VDJ......

Got it working!! what a great little addition to VDJ.... I highly recommend this as a nice cheap controller when you want real buttons for some of the command and for what I am using it for.... a video cross-fader and to control the sampler and loops

I got it working by pressing the User button on the right hand side then opening up the MIDI config option on the VDJ app and then mapping all the controls by choosing add from the VDJ window option then choosing which control I want to assign that to the nocturn
 
 
Guys Im having real problems knowing how to set the nocturn up with vdj. Please can someone explain with clear instructions on how to do it. I have been trying for hours to figure it out but realise i don't have a clue. No one seems to give good instructions on how to set it up.

VDJ - Config - Remote Control - General MIDI - Activate - General MIDI - Config - LOAD - NOVATION NOCTURN.xml - OK

There is no such existing posibility now with VirtualDJ 7, or am I lacking some chromosome?

Think I browsed 15 times through all the settings in VirtualDJ 7, no such thing as a "LOAD" button anywhere...

Automap in itself is so overly ambiguous that I want to tear my eyes out.

I see this everywhere, people using different words for one thing when explaining... no wonder the reader gets confused.

Btw, pictures > text.

If anyone has gotten this to work (With VDJ7 & AUTOMAP 3.5, you HAVE to post your method guy, srsly!!!
 
A VirtualDJ v5 mapping cannot be used with VirtualDJ v6 or v7. It is not compatible. These new versions use a new more powerful and flexible mapping system (VDJscript.)

You can map an unsupported MIDI device by going to CONFIG -> Mappers and choose Simple MIDI Wrapper in the list.

Would be great if you could show us how to map say the crossfader on the Nocturn controller to the crossfader in VDJ7...

Mapping the remaining knobs/buttons would just be a repetition of that method.

What settings are required in Automap (Pro) v.3.5 for comunicating with VDJ7?

EDIT: Funny, I moved a knob and it's key showed up in VDJ. :) WOrking!
 
Watch out watch out, the Automap and VirtualDJ easily lose contact if you press the learn button.

Do not do this as I don't think it works with VDJ(7) at all...

If you pressed the learn button just restart 1st Automap server, then VDJ(7) and try again.

I've got the knobs and functions I desired to work now.

Using MIDI channel 2, Mixer group, and HUI not activated (Automap 3.5).
