Topic: Different BPM = Shitty mixes.

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi guys.

I've got this problem, whenever 2 tracks aint the same BPM it cant beatmatch one single track correctly.
I know that VirtualDJ can't beat match all tracks, but this issue is ALL tracks, that does'nt have the same BPM.

It like it about a second tolate, and makes it sound shitty.

If the songs is the same BPM it's no problem.

Im running Win7 x64 - also tried running it in compability mode.
Worked fine on Vista and XP.

Also tried with both my soundcards, and VirtualDJ 6, 5.2.. same issue.
Also tried tweaking the performances etc. - same problem.

Any ideas?

In my opinion the BPM-detection isn't very good, and even if it is/was/would be I do not feel comfortable relying on a computer to calculate something like that for me.

My best tip is to train doing this yourself, that way you will be able to free yourself from such constraints. There are many good guides to this you can find with a quick search.

You can also use the Tap BPM function in Virtual DJ to tap the BPM.

Or a handy tool such as this http://www.pyramidedata.dk/calc.html.

If you want to use digital calculation, my tip would be to look at other BPM calculators. Which may work better due to using other methods, I don't know. For example Mixmeister's BPM Analyzer http://www.mixmeister.com/bpmanalyzer/bpmanalyzer.asp. This was about the only free one I could find, but there are likely more out there.
