I want to map my Pioneer djm800 to fully control the internal mixer in VDJ. I know how to do it but I must be doing something wrong because when I click on CUE (on the mixer) to pre listen another channel I get no sound. Its apparently usiing the crossfader to allow you to pre listen to the playing song. But I want to listen to the other channel so that I can mix in the new song when I slide the fader to the other side. I need to know the map name for the cue buttons? If anyone can help, thanks.
Note: I could not find default mappers in the mappers section of the site for this mixer.
Thanks,
Mario

What kind of sound card do you have and how is it connected to the mixer?
No matter how you MIDI-map the mixer, you still need to have analogue audio signal coming in to your mixers' audio inputs if you want to use cue.
For the life of me I can't understand what's the point of using the knobs and sliders of DJM-800 to control the Virtual DJ's internal mixer via MIDI instead using them in the traditional way.

If you have a hardware mixer such as the DJM-800, you DO NOT need to control the internal mixer of VirtualDJ. Simply use a DJ sound card with two outputs (One for each deck) and you will be able to manipulate and pre-listen to the sound just as you would for traditional audio CD's or vinyl.
If you map it up so that it controls the internal software audio crossfader and/or channel volume sliders in VirtualDJ, then you will not be able to pre-listen from the mixer. Why? If you are playing channel #1 and the crossfader is across to that channel and/or channel #2's volume slider is down, VDJ will no-longer be outputting any sound for channel #2, so you would not be able to pre-listen to it from the mixer.
You do not need the controls on the skin to move - Simply look at the REAL knobs and sliders on the mixer itself to see where they are! The only features you may need to map via MIDI is the crossfader to video_crossfader for video crossfading, and spare unused buttons/knobs/sliders for triggering effects, etc.

Hi guys,
I need it because its for me its easier to do videos and record my mixes this way. I dont know if its possible. I have my Virtual Vinyl (Numark) sound card hooked up and I'm using time codes. Out put from channel 1 on sound card is to mixer channel 1. Out put from channel 2 on sound card is to mixer channel 2.

For video mixing, all you need is the video crossfader mapped to the real one (Action = video_crossfader)
For recording, you can run a cable from the record output of your mixer back into the line input of your sound card. Then choose line in as the source in the recording options. Or you could use a 3rd party sound recording application such as Audacity (Free): http://audacity.sourceforge.net
If you map it to the audio crossfader and/or volume sliders, then you will not be able to headphone pre-listen.

Hello guys. I'm a newbie and I'm just getting my equipments.
I personally love the djm800 so I'm going to get that. However after reading about virtual DJ and djm800 it's kind of a turn off.... but that won't stop me from buying it.
However I have some questions:
What CAN I map then? As I've said I'm a newbie so I don't get this... The effects on the djm800. can I see those being controlled in the vdj? (if you can understand me that's great. cause I'm having a hard time explaining :P )
So I'm not even doing video mixing. All I really need is to use the music from the computer and put it on my mixer and technics SL1200 mk5s.
Do I need a soundcard? or interface? I don't know the difference between the 2... I'm lookin at under $300. I was gonna get serato but the software looked ghetto (once again, do we need software?) so I was gonna get the m audio package with torq. then use the interface with vdj and djm800. is there a better card or interface to use?
I hear the djm800 is a midi mixer. I dont quite get what that means. do I NOT have to buy a sound card and stuff?
If I only need the music (and I like the bpm reading and the keylock on the vdj so when you change speed you don't change pitch. that's controlled by turntable? but anyway I like those to show and work) and possibly everything else integrated but without "disabling" anything that I can do on the mixer.... what do I have to buy and what can I connect from mixer to vdj?
Thanks for reading.. I'm not too good at explaining since I have too many questions. Sorry.
