Do you want to use video? if yes, buy the model with a 2.8 core 2 duo cpu and the 9600GT or an older model with the 9600GT (video card), if you are not going to use video it's a matter of screen and the laptop size that you prefer.

It is also a matter of whether you want to run firewire or use express cards. If so, you will need a pro. the 13" is USB only.

The Macbook Pro 13.3 does have a 800 firewire port.
