September is a good where you can book lots of gigs. Many companies book DJ's for their annual christmas partie around this time. Start making your demos so you can give it out. Banks have big parties, Distric attorneys, Airlines, Sanitation, Lawyers, Hospitals etc. Most of them have it on the second week of december.. Mostly on a thursday night. $$$$ Its time to chase the papper...

Yep, Caliente's right, you've really gotta market yourself this season. I'm really starting to put on the marketing blitz now. There's lots of competition out there and with this economy we could easily be undercut by iPod DJs hired to save a buck, so now's the time to get your publicity out there and let them know why they should pay your price.
Many clients will pay your price if you sell yourself correctly, but you have to deliver the goods. Professionalism and class will set you apart. Do you have it!? Can you deliver the goods!?
I know I can. So should you...

Let's talk advertising.
What do you guys distribute?
Single Brochure? - Brochure and DVD?
Do you guys use Trade Shows?
I have mixed opinions of wedding shows; they have had good effect for video displays and so forth but mixed on actual bookings. However I have had good results using online referral services such as RESPOND & GIGMASTERS.
The business side of DJ'ing is too oten overlooked on these forums.

Whats Up Marcel. My gigs are all for audio.. I make many copies of a mixed cd's to give out. The CD's would have four tracks containing 20 minute mixes of each genre. Giving cards doesn't get alot of attention like a mixed cd that you made. There are many dj's to choose from and people wonder how good you are. Its always good to make a mixed cd every month. I store it in my computer so i can burn it into a cd to give out.
The Cd's i make, I give them to djs that play at many clubs. If they need someone to fill in, they would call me up. I also give my cds to hotel staff members, party goods stores, bank tellers & city council members.
