Topic: will the vestax vci 300 ever be sold with vdj in the box? - Page: 1

This part of topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information

just wondering it would be nice for people to be able to choose what software you want to use right straight out of the box...meaning a box for the itch and another for virtual dj. lets say i went to the dj store and just picked up the box with virtual dj software because that was my choice...it would be nice to have the pro version since the vci 300 is leaning more to the pro user and with serato having a fully functional itch program well the competition is there. i just bought the vci 300 its awsome with itch but i prefer virtual dj...because of the effects, video and many other things....but itch is already coming out with its effect addon and soon will add video while virtual dj is still trying to get the vci 300 to just plain work....i know that im only a limited user and thats just my problem i want to get a fully working version of virtual dj for my vci 300 but while that happens im stuck with itch for now which is not bad at all but i do prefer virtual dj.

The VCI 300 was made for itch only software out of the box. You can map it but i won't be sold with Virtual dj. It's more possible for hercules & Virtual dj design a all in one controller like the NS7 or a VCI 300.

You dont need to map it.
VCI-300 works plug and play with VDJ 6.02 ;)

But there might be dedicated controllers for vdj too.

The difference between Searto (itch/ssl) and VDJ is fundamental.
Serato is locked to hardware (aka needs these few controllers dedicated), while VDJ is an open approach where it will work with "any" controller..

So VDJ isnt limited to a selected few controllers (since we sell the software for any controller), like Serato is (for reason they sell hardware + software packages, limited and locked to those).

Just different ways of doing business ;)

Hi dj-in-norway

A fundamentle question

If i'm paying full price for VCI-300 does it mean if I use it with VDJ I won't be able to use all the features of the controller, or somewhat limited, as oppose to using it with itch software?

Thanks

Joey...

Thats hot that 6.0.2 is plug n play. I have been stuck on 5.2 until today. Now i can test it on some controllers like the VCI 300 & the 3700

Hey Joey, sorry for butting in. With v6's very easy midi mapping features you can easily customize the VCI 300 to work in any configuration with VDJ. It is easier than ever to make "all the features" work with any midi controller.

Well thanks for the input on this, I have a Hercules MK2 and want to upgrade.

Wasn't very sure on a buy to use with my VDJ, but I like the feel and touch of the VCI-300 looks like a serious tool.

Does the touch sensitive jog wheels work properly using VDJ in the same way as in itch?

Joey....

No limitations what so ever with VirtualDJ and VCI-300.
And compared to Itch is even more versatile than Itch, as you can change the mapper to your own liking, can apply the vci-300 in a multi soundcard setup etc etc in VirtualDJ..

yes ;)

@ dj in norway,

how are the buttons mapped, are they mapped to work like itch or are they mapped in a total different setup?

ok ok i just read your other post you can map it to whatever your personal needs are... nice nice....lol how can you be limited to use all of the vci 300 buttons when virtual dj has three times more functions than itch? the only limitation is limiting to the amount of buttons the vci 300 has....there is really no controller that has enough buttons to work all the functions virtual dj has unless you have a mpd24 or mpd32 or anything like that aside from having the controller. i have both vci 300 with a mpd32 they work awsome but running itch for the vci 300 and ableton live with the mpd32 at the same time really stresses my comp, now with virtual dj working i dont need to run 2 programs...less stress for my computer.

In VDJ is mapped somewhat similar to Itch yes. But with VDJ users in mind, so the cue section is vertical, and loop section vertical. On each side.

And the rest of the controller is pretty much same as Itch.
Reason being how the buttons are labeled.. Say "Browse" or "Loop In".
We followed how the buttons are named, but with VDJ in mind.

But again, it super easy to map it your own ways ;)

Wow thanks for the input

Are their any recommendations other then VCI-300 that should be considered.

Thanks

Joey....

I got VCI-300 myself, and totally love it.

Its not the cheapest controller, but has nice touchsensitive jogwheels... and works great.

Other controllers to consider are many many..
- Cheaper good one (without touchsensitive jogwheels, but normal jogwheels) : Hercules RMX
- More expensive one with motorized jogwheels : Numark NS7

And then you have Denon S-3700 that are real dj decks, but with midi, controlling VDJ directly..

And lots lots more..
Hard to say, kinda comes down to you.. how much you want to spend, your personal preferences etc

yeah actually the only reason i would like pretty much the itch setup is because of the button names that way its not confusing or hard to remember...i have my mpd32 for loops effects and what not...so ill be ok with this setup thanks for the info.

the NS7 is a nice piece of work i couldnt afford it so i got the vci 300 pretty much the same thing without the motorized platters and auto start with the slider.

You can add auto start at the sliders in VDJ ;)
You can pretty much map it any way you want..

But as you say, it does not have motorized platters as the NS7, but being a CDJ dj, and not having much of a vinyl dj past, that suits me fine.
It works just as a CD scratch deck would.

yeah im happy with my vci 300 coming from a TC this unit is awsome. i seen people do pretty much anything they can do on turntables with the vci 300.

Mr Cstoll and Mr DJ-In Norway, and everybody who is interested about vci-300

Vestax-vci-300 is less useable with vdj.

The microphone input and the auxiliary input are not controllable through vdj.

You cannot announce the couple in a weddig while playing music.

So I am angry that I have to carry another mixer only for that reason.

Can you make a plugin for controlling the output volume of the microphone and aux through vdj?

I would never use this controller for dj ying weddings. This is more for Small family barbecues, home practice setup etc. I own a VCI 300 and i also have 2 Denon 3700s with the Denon X1100 mixer for my main gigs.
