are you talking about the auto start buttons on the mixer on either side of the crossfader? if so those only work with "auto start compatible" hardware (not sure what you have or if its compatible) but I was doing the same thing with my CD player then I read my manual for my C3USB and read that it has to be a compatible player to work. I hope that helped alittle.

Fader Start is already implemented in V6. It can be enabled by the latest Registry Tool or mapping a Keyboard Key with the Action "fader_start".
It starts the Song by sliding the Crossfader or the Volumefaders. But the Implemetation is buggy for me. The Crossfader works properly from left to right. But from right to left it starts the next Song in the middle Position of the Crossfader. The Volumefaders work well. I hope the Developers will fix it with the next Release.

would fader start work with an external mixer too? I'm gonna be upgrading to Pro (to take full advantage of my TT1650's and DM950 mixer) and if this works with an external mixer that would be sweeter than syrup for beat juggling!

You will need to have a MIDI capable mixer in order for it to control VDJ. =)

I have a Numark DM950 mixer. Would that not work, if not can you suggest any that would?

I have enabled the Fader Start from the Registy Tool. I have Crossfader Lenght to 0 from the options menu (config). But when control the crossfader from my DMC2, i see the crossfader on the screen to move properly but no fader start. Whta am i doing wrong?
It works if i tap the crossfader on the screen with my mouse, but i can't make it work with my controller.

Have you tried modifying the mapping
crossfader & param_greater 0% ? param_smaller 100% ? deck left play & deck right play : deck left stop : deck right stop
