Topic: creating external controller from scratch

I'm considering buying two touchscreen monitors off of eBay to add to my DJ equipnebt. I've got a bunch of programmers willing to do the programming, but I'm not entirely sure how I would interface the two monitors and programs with VirtualDJ. I'm running VirtualDJ on a 2.16 GHz Core2Duo MacBook Pro 15" with 3 GB ram. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
