Years ago it was 1 song like every 3 minutes, but now its changing it up quick to keep the crowd alive.

i think this is what you would call a party break
if this was done the whole night the dancers would kill me for changin their songs every 2 seconds[ also i think that me as a customer id hate it if the dj does this all the itme] i rather one break, every once in a while, yes to keep the party alive, but i think its essential to leave some songs to be played til it reaches that climax part in a song
my 2 cents though

The guy might work their week in week out and might play to the same people each week so mixing it up a bit every now and again is a break from the norm maybe.

I don't know how it is on Miami, chicago, Brazil, Canada, spain or china etc. But here in new York, the mixing is faster. The hip hop and r & b is switched up fast. If its latin, maybe like 2 minutes each song. Reggae or reggaeton is fast mixing too. I go to many clubs in the city. Not that i have alot of money, its just the fact that my Dj partner is a promoter for many clubs. The djs are always rotating at the hottest clubs.

Personally I don't like that. Obviously depends on what you're playing, but in the styles I play, I generally wouldn't do that. I can do it, but when stuff goes up into 90 tracks an hour and stuff I just don't get the same feeling out of it.
