My current new dj set up:
laptop+vdj
denon dmx500 mixer
dmc2 controler
gigaport ag sound card
two yamaha s115v speakers

I have not purchased the amp yet beause i want to make the right decision. what would be the easiest way to add a stand alone subwoofer. the less equimpent need it the better, meaning if there is a amp that gives you a subwoofer out put, i rather buy that than a cross over with a regular type of amp. less equimpnet to carry arround the better. what do you guys use for a subwoofer setup or any suggestions, thank you.

Hi mate

If you only intend to run 1 sub you can get a sub with the amp and xover built in. Then you just need a power amp for your mid/tops.
There are some multi channel amps that have 4 or so outputs and built in xovers but possibly the easyest solution for you would be to look for a passive sub (no amp inside) but that has its own built in xover. That way you only need to pick up 1 power amp to drive the lot and can add another sub if you need one. Yamaha JBL and Peavey all do these. For amp power go for QSC PLX series or Crown XTI series they are very powerfull and dont break your back lifting them.

I run your same speaker and power them with the QSC RMX 2450 Amp. Tons of headroom. It is a bit heavy but cheaper (in price) than the PLX series if you are on a limited budget.

Your kidding about the tuba sub....i hope.

you being serious man? u got a lot to learn.... do your research before you badmouth BFM

That my friend is an interesting piece of technical information. Thanks for sharing. I was about to order some Yorkvilles or Mackies but this is something I will be looking into.

BFM designs are amazing and if youre good with a saw you will save a ton of money... i own 2 OmniTop12's and one tuba30... no mobile DJ ive met can compare...

Post some pics tj, if you don't mind, would love to see your rig.

Thank you for the info, my mixer has a sub out, does this mean that it sends the lows to an amplifier which than can be sent to the sub?

This is the amp that I was looking at, http://www.123dj.com/amps/numark/dimension4.html if I purchase this and a subwoofer, how would it connect ? I tried to read the pdf manual but a little bit confused. Does it mean that you connect both of your speakers on OUTPUT channel A and the sub on channel B.?

Hi mate

You are correct the output on your mixer can be sent to an additional amplifier and used to drive your sub but if you go for a sub with built in amp the crossover electronics will normaly be built in.
This is a convenient (if a little inflexible) way to run your sub. The dimension 4 amp is ok for what it costs. It has all the crossover setup built in but if you only run one amp and as you correctly say, drive the Yams on one channel and your sub on the other the sound will of course be mono.
If this is the kind of amp you are looking at I would still go for a pair of passive subs with built in crossovers. Then run one Yam and one sub from each channel. That way you will get the most out of the amp. Keep your eyes pealed for a second hand Crown or QSC if your budget cant stretch to a new one. They realy are worth the price premium.

Thank you so much for your help will keep an eye out for a crown or qsc.
Adding the sub is it really noticeable difference? im guessing you do not have to keep the sound as high and the crowd can feel it more?

Thank you for all of your ideas. Will look into all the available choices but now i have a much clear picture of how it works. thanks

heres my system
