Topic: Broadcasting and recording at the same time.

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Ok I have been broadcasting on internet radio for about two years now using Virtual DJ.

www.purple-radio.co.uk 6-8pm on Mondays by way of a plug ;-)

ahem.

Anyway I have never managed to be able to record my shows if I am broadcasting from Virtual DJ. Some people I know use audacity to record what goes through their pc soundcard. However they use Winamp and shoutcast to connect to the radio server rather than Virtual DJ.

I haven't managed to get audacity to work so far but I have recently got a new dell xps1730 laptop and am trying to get everything working the way I want.

I am using Virtual DJ and a Hercules mk2.

Does anyone have any suggestions for broadcasting and recording at the same time?

Anyone?

I use a plugin for Winamp, sorry I don't recall the name. What I do is, hit the winamp to open the stream Then I open this plugin, hit record, then hit record in VDJ. After the set I use Audition to trim the stuff I don't want. I'll see if I can find the name of the winamp plugin and post it here for you.....

Oh so you broadcast from winamp and not Virtual DJ. I broadcast straight from Virtual DJ

Hmmm I guess that way round would work.

No, I broadcast from VDJ..and play/record from Winamp.

Tuning into the stream using winamp.....and recording from the stream. It is similar to that, it was a free plugin.

Brilliant.

If I get this to work it will be a massive bonus for me.

Thanks for your help.

I broadcast weekly shows on internet radio I know virtual dj pro7 wont allow you to broadcast and record at same time is this the same on virtual dj 8 any help will be welcome thanks

Honestly its something that i havent personally tried, but it should be possible, if you just click on both the BCAST and REC buttons in the MASTER panel of the default skin.

Yes, it is possible. Have done this a couple of times myself for testing.
