Topic: Constant crashing on VDJ 5.2.1 Pro

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Ok, here's me starting a new thread and I did put in my registration information so you can see that I am a registered user:

I get a lot of crashing on VDJ when I am running karaoke. I mostly do karaoke, so I don't know if I will have the same problem just playing music or not.

I do have folders with a lot of songs in them, and when I click on them to view the files in the folders, some of them take up to 3 - 4 minutes to open. I have a brand new Dell Studio laptop I'm using for VDJ with 2g of RAM. I don't know if having multiple folders with less files should help.

Also, when the system crashes, sometimes it just freezes and exits and I have to reload the program. Sometimes, I get the recovery error and am able to recover, but can take a minute before it comes back on. Needless to say, this can get pretty embarassing when it happens, but even more so when it happens more than once in the same night.

If any of you have any suggestions, I would appreciate it. I'm new to the program, so I don't know all the ins and outs of it and I am not a full-time DJ so I'm not mixing and doing all that cool stuff, just playing karaoke songs and then music in between singers for the most part.

Jelly... do this, Create a Favorite folder named the same as your folder (within vdj), click on the folder that is taking forever and click on 1 song, then ctrl+a (this will select them all) and drag them to that Fav folder. Access that fav folder instead of the main folder and u will see a difference believe me.

Hi there - thanks for the suggestions. I will try that favorites folder thing when I get home today before I go to work for NYE. I will also post my crash guard report, which I believe I found last night. :) I have Windows Vista and I believe the karaoke format I am using is mp3 & CD&G files that are zipped up.

I have been having a problem that another discussion group is talking about, so I have to fix the zip format to match what VDJ uses, but my system won't properly install WinRAR so I have to try to figure something else out... I tried that on my XP machine and my Vista machine with the same results.. not sure what the deal is with that, but that's another saga. :)

I am not sure any other way to scan my files other than to click on the folder and then access them? Can you tell me how to do that? I know that I have been fixing my database because I have a lot of stuff all over the place, and I was trying to consolidate my folders, so it was showing stuff in folders that didn't exist anymore and I didn't want that, but not sure if there's some other way to scan. Thanks!

DAMM! LOL LOL just kidding :-D but sounds like you should have used the trial version first to get farmilair with program,
scaning of files determines the Beats per Minutes of the songs in said folder identity etc! once you scan your files/songs
then your songs should load faster. Open vdj locate folder with your songs in it in vdj right click folder scan files should be the last option in the box, click scan!!!!!!!!! depending on how many songs in folder will determine how long scan will take good luck!!!!!!
