Ok, this may have been stated in here before ...
I know there has been discussion on the USB ports on what not to use like the right side port ... but an interesting thing has happen recently with the back left side port as well.
Systems - (2) 17" MacBook Pro + Bootcamp + VirtualDJ (PC) + (one is using the MAYA 44 USB with TC, the other a GigaPort HD)
I have 2 Users that have started to have problems using the back left side USB port as well ... snaps, crackles, and pops. In some cases there have been lockups as well ... so don't know if it a recent update to XP that has created the poor quality but the issues have occurred.
Resolution - so far it seems if you move the sound card to the front left port thing smooth out. [Have not tested this using the MAC version of VirtualDJ, yet]

I use the left front port on mine with no issues. XP has many issues when I tried on my mbp, I then used vista to correct most of those then removed the windows partition all together.
