first off i have an hp laptop with 2gig of ram and a amd turion processor dual core and 120 gig hard drive also i use a maya 44 usb soundcard after playing for about
2 hours and imdiging through my folders it crashes the music is still playing but i can't do anything i tried every type of setting and still the same thing happens. i scanned my hd and that did not seem to help. i have about 8 different playlist so what i do is go from playlist 2 playlist and that seems to help a little i get to play longer before something happens. if i delete the history list that it saves after every sesion would that help? what would be the best setting for me i like to juggle my music the longest i let a song play is a 1 1/2 minutes

So you can do everything you want in the beginning of the night, but after about 2 hours you have a problem? Could this be heat related?

Try checking the file types you are using.
Go into where the tracks are stored on your machine and right click, then go into properties and see what the file type is.

what will be the best type to use? and i really don't think heat is the problem cause after i restart the program it works fine for another 2 hours

MP3 is highly recommended i think. Certainly from a personal point of view I started off using WMA's, but have recently converted them all to MP3, and my load time is faster and now my waveform doesn't jump about like mad. It's nice and smoooooth...:o)
Check your maxload settings as well...just in case, although I'm sure it's fine. Change it to 15 mins (unless you're loading tracks that last for longer than 15 mins, in which case, set it to 30 mins).

So it crashes every 2 hours? I am a little slow, so how does the file type have anything to do with this? Are you using any type of power management? Oh, and does this only happen when using VDJ?

Not quite sure what 'history' you're referring to?
If you are referring to the database, DO NOT DELETE THIS!!!
This saves all your cues, bpm's, song lengths and stuff. If you delete this, you'll need to analyse all your songs again.
Oh...while we're on that topic...it's a good idea to copy that file to another location on your system, so that if you do ever get a corrupt database, you can just paste your copy back into the program file...:o)

I think A Man & His Music's referring to power settings, you know, like 'turn off after X amount of time' etc.
Have it set to 'always on' if it's not already.

cue atomaticaly stores each sesion in a history folder it tells you all the songs you played and how long you played it.

Ah. I see. I don't think deleting this will make any difference however, it's just for reference/playlisting purposes...can help you recognise a 'good' set.
VDJ used to do this, but seems to have been disabled in 4.1+ (perhaps someone can clarify?).

I don't think running out to buy an external hard drive right now is the answer. You need to try and see what the problem is first. I know it's a pain, but it's really all a process of elimination with these things.
As suggested, check file types, power settings and other such bits and bobs.
Check out the boards for the XP Tweaks post - you can find this by searching for 'XP Tweaks'.
There could be a number of things causing these problems. Another hard drive probably won't solve the issues.
