Topic: Problem with Virtual Folders and Database
Hey guys,

I have a problem and I don’t know what to do anymore.

Here’s what I’m trying to do: I want to analyze songs in VirtualDJ (BPM, etc.) so I can import them into SoundSwitch and create light shows. Normally, this works by accessing the “VDJ Folders” via the “Library Window” in SoundSwitch (if SoundSwitch can read them, there’s a small arrow to the left of the folder name). However, that arrow is missing, and I can’t expand anything.

—————————

I had VirtualDJ 2025. But apparently, there are no more Virtual Folders, just “My Lists.” Then I read in a SoundSwitch FAQ that they currently don’t support “My Lists.”

I also read that VirtualDJ 2025 stores its data in “AppData” — but I couldn’t find anything there in my File Explorer.

—————————

Then I downloaded VirtualDJ 2023 and tried working with Virtual Folders. But again, the problem was the same — SoundSwitch couldn’t access the Virtual Folders from VirtualDJ.

I also read that VirtualDJ 2023 stores its data under “Documents.” But I couldn’t find anything there in my Explorer either.

However, in both cases, I installed everything properly. And I didn’t have both versions installed at the same time — it was either the 2025 version or the 2023 version on my PC.

Why can’t I find the database?

Why can’t SoundSwitch access the Virtual Folders from VirtualDJ?

Thanks

This VirtualDJ Wiki page details where you would find the Application settings folder (make sure you direct SoundSwitch to look there in its settings):

https://virtualdj.com/wiki/How-to-Transfer-To-A-New-Computer.html

Also you can make VirtualDJ output regular List folders in the old playlist format using one or both these properties (it's probably the latter one specifically that may be needed): browserAutoExportM3U, browserShowLegacyM3UPlaylists

See the VirtualDJ Options Listing for details

Also in SS Preferences->Library you can change the VDJ HomeFolder and point to yours (Library or Documents)

and as wrote in a different topic of yours, the VDJ Lists are properly shown.
