When does it pause? I only loaded tracks and played them. I didn't check to see what happened when the mathengine analyses a track.
If you see the display slow down during the mathengine stem analysis then it's probably due to the high CPU load.

im running into the same issue, ( amongst others with this new version)
I also have v8.4 (2020) and this is not an issue). Its not a CPU or GPU taxation issue, it just stops 4 times per second.
Surface book 2 15 inch
Eighth-gen Intel Quad-Core i7-8650U, 4.2GHz "max turbo"
16GB RAM.
512GB
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060, 6GB graphic memory.

Same issue on my sx2 :
when I leave the "stems pad" activated instead of the "hotcue" page, the white ring in the middle of decks lag. It seems that it is the blinking effect of the pads which is problematic. If I switch to another pad page (slicer or sampler,...), no more worries about controller ring lag.

That's strange. I just tried my SX2 again here, and see no such delay with the white ring in the jog display.
FYI this is on a 4.2GHz i7 CPU with 16GB RAM, using CPU for stems.
