Hi All,
I've been using this setup (Numark NS6 with Dell Latitude i5 laptop) for 4 years with no issues until my last 2 gigs. Now my controller is locking unexpectedly. The first time it happen was on NYE, it was so bad that I had to use my backup surface running spotify to finish my gig. The issue would occur right out of nowhere. Everything is working perfectly, and then audio would stop, then start again, then stop again and start again. After the gig I decided that I would upgrade the HDD to an SSD and do a fresh install of Windows 10. So I did that and tested the laptop with the NS6 at home for hours and no issues. I thought I had found my issue but this past weekend I had another gig and the issue resurfaced again multiple times. What I notice is that when the issue occurs, the Play/Pause and Cue buttons LED would shutoff. If I press anything on the controller nothing happens. My laptop is still running, VDJ is still running so it seems but no audio and no controls. I know that the audio side of the NS6 is still working because I have my surface hooked up to an AUX input (Channel4) and the audio is being fed to my PA and the mixer fader is controlling the sound level, but nothing is moving in VDJ. On some occasions I have to power off/on the controller for the controller to start working again. All my buttons LED's are working again and start DJ'ing again and later on, the same issue would occur again, audio and controller control lock up. I have never experience these issues with this setup before December 2018. I am wondering if it's a Windows Update thing.
Has anybody experience this before and tips would be great.
FYI. I have setup my laptop to run in performance mode for DJ'ing and Windows is fully updated.
Thanks in advance
Luc

What Build of Virtual DJ You use?
Have the newest Driver for NS6 installed?
Any other Controllers or Usb tools...?
Other Soundcards in the List (deactivate all Soundcards You not using)

Hi djdutschi
I am running the latest version of VDJ 2018. I have the latest NS6 Windows driver v2.9.64
I am not running any other controllers, I am using an External USB HDD and the NS6 controller straight into my laptop.
I have never tried disabling the on-board sound-card as I never had an issue before. I don't need it thought so I can and will disable it (thanks for the tip)
Thanks

The first thing i would do, would be to replace the USB cable with a new one. It appears that for some reason you lose connection (both Audio and MIDI), so a bad USB cable could be a very strong case
And of course optimizing your computer for best performance is always a good practice. http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/PC%20Optimize.html

Have You connected ever on the same USB.
Numark Controllers only use on a USB 2 Port not on a USB 3.
What System U use , Windows 7 or 10?
Try to use a other USB Cable , yes.
Greetings Dani
