Can you check with the latest build 2770 as well ?
Do the VU meters on the screen (skin) show activity when the music stops (and before you hit Apply again) ?
What does the Tooltip shows for Audio and CPU usage if you put your mouse over the CPU meter ?
Have you optimized your computer for best performance ? http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Common%20PC%20Performance%20Issues.html
