Topic: CD plays fine in VDJ 7 but not in VDJ 8

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Greetings. I'm not having much luck here. VDJ 8 won't play any tracks of a CD. The tracks show the drag box up to the player, but stops with an ERROR. No tracks will play.

All is fine in VDJ 7. All tracks will play.

I don't get it. Don't see any options. Nothing in Google.

I have an HP Pavilion DV-7 laptop. It can't be the drive since VDJ 7 plays well. Any ideas where to go from here?

Thanks,

Jimmy

Is this happening with a specific CD, or with all your CDs ?

Can you create an image of the CD and upload to a server ?

Hi DJDad. No this is happening to every CD I put in the tray. These are all professional made CDs. And the problem is only in VDJ 8.

The CD spins up normal. All the tracks appear in the browser properly as Track01, Track02, Track03.

When I drag any track to any player ( I use the 4 deck skin) I get a box with the track number and when hovered over the deck it reads "Load in Deck 1" or 2 or 3 or 4. That all looks normal.

When I release the track onto the deck it errors out. And it errors out on all 4 decks. I switched to the 2 deck skin. No fix.

Switch over to VDJ 7 and every CD plays fine. I'm a little stumped here.

Could it have something to do with the Virtual DJ Login? I have the laptop at work with no Internet access and get the Welcome banner. I "X" out to close the window.

Are you using Windows XP?
Playing audio cd's requires Windows 7 or higher in VDJ 8.

Why's that? If VDJ 8 is advertised as working on XP then it should be 100% compatible.

You are right, in a way. If it says its compatible with XP it should work.

But in my opinion, Atomix should remove the ads for XP support, since Microsoft itself doesn't support XP anymore.

Just tested on my PC at home. CD's play fine with VDJ 8. This is an XP machine.

My laptop which won't play CDs with 8 is running Windows 7.

Blimey, it doesn't bode well if even the guy writing the software doesn't know what it does!
